Kyle Walker gushes over football manager Pep Guardiola as personal life crumbles
Grateful Kyle Walker has thanked his Man City manager Pep Guardiola and England’s Gareth Southgate for standing by him amid the scandal surrounding his affair with former TOWIE star and model Lauryn Goodman.
Kye, 33, said that he went into 'survival mode' upon discovering he was expecting a second child with mistress Lauryn, also 33. The Manchester City player has finally publicly admitted he is the father of Lauryn's youngest child, almost six months on from the Instagram model giving birth to a daughter in August.
The footballer, whose estranged wife Annie Kilner is pregnant with their fourth child together, recalls almost fainting when Lauryn called him in October 2022 to let him know she was pregnant with his child once again. Amid the ongoing drama in his life, Kyle has thank manager Pep for his ongoing support.
Kyle called the Spaniard “unbelievable”. He said: “He didn’t know what was happening. I didn’t want to tell him because I didn’t want him to think I wasn’t mentally there. I can’t thank him enough for the understanding and belief he’s shown in me through four years.”
Pep, 53, made Kyle captain despite objections from some fans and the pair embraced on the pitch last Friday after a 1-0 win against Spurs in the FA Cup. Kyle was visibly emotional and punched the air repeatedly. He also said Southgate — who made him England captain against North Macedonia last year — sent a supportive text message after his latest sex scandal. He declined to reveal details but said: “For your national team manager to reach out in a time of need goes beyond football.”
Walker hints at Guardiola contribution to Haaland's Man City strugglesSpeaking about his career achievements in a new interview with The Sun, Kyle said: “In football I’ve achieved more than what I ever thought I would achieve. But to personally hurt what I truly believe is my best friend, that’s what hurts a lot.
“How could I hurt someone I love so much? That’s something I need to find in myself. I need to find out why I have done this and why situations have occurred. I am human and I’ve made mistakes on and off the field.
“The ones off the field are definitely more damaging and have been more hurtful to me. Football has been my life since I was six but my family comes before anything on this planet. At the moment, they’re hurting enormously.”
Kyle's confession comes after Lauryn gave birth to the sports star's son Kairo Walker in April 2020, while the soon-to-be dad-of-six was married to childhood sweetheart Annie. Pregnant Annie, who announced her split from Kyle earlier this month, labelled her husband's betrayal as "obscene" at the time but stuck by her man.
Model Lauryn then went on to welcome her five-month-old daughter into the world in August last year, but opted not to publicly disclose the identity of the father or her second child's name, other than hinting her baby's initials are K.W. Following weeks of speculation, Kyle has now finally confirmed he is Lauryn's only baby daddy and father to both of her young children.
Speaking in the new interview, Kyle apologised to "soulmate and best friend" Annie and insisted on taking "full responsibility" for betraying his wife's trust and loyalty over recent years. The England international, who captained his country for the first time last year, also revealed how he discovered he was expecting another love child with Lauryn in 2022 when he said he 'almost fainted' when she called him to tell him, and that he felt trapped.
