A woman has caused outrage as she admitted to opening her soon-to-be daughter-in-law's wedding dress that was delivered to her house.

She claimed her son told her she "had boundaries" when he realised what his mother had done, but she doesn't feel as if she did anything wrong.

The woman revealed how the bride had been feeling "anxious" about some of her wedding outfits, so decided to send her a photo of the outfit that had just arrived, and was shocked when the bride was upset she'd opened it and shared how her son told her she was in the wrong.

She took to Reddit to ask if what she did was truly wrong and explained the situation. She said: "My (soon to be) daughter-in-law has been working with a designer for the past year to create an outfit for one of the wedding events. She asked me if she could have it shipped to my place to hold onto since her apartment complex loses packages often and I agreed.

"The package arrived this week and I opened it and took the dress out to send her pictures of it. The reason I did this is because she's been anxious about some of her other outfits for the other wedding events and I wanted her to be able to see it so she knows it turned out well."

However, she revealed that it turned into a "huge problem" and the bride was "so upset" she'd opened the parcel without asking her. The bride had said she wanted it to be a "surprise for the big day" and claimed she wanted to be the one to open it, not her mother-in-law.

"My son yelled at me basically implying that I'm an AH with no boundaries, but I was just trying to help," she stated and then asked if she was an a**hole for what she did.

People were quick to flood the comments telling her she was in the wrong, as one Redditor wrote: "You just wanted to sticky beak and should NEVER have touched it The dress is NOT your property and the ONLY way it should of been opened is if she had specifically asked you to. You crossed a line so I'm not surprised she's upset and if you sent those pictures to anyone else you may as well say goodbye to that relationship!"

Whereas another simply asked: "Why are you opening up other people's packages without permission? Especially when you know it's something big?"
