Exit sealed amid blossoming romance on the cobbles

Coronation Street appears to be set for a sad exit next week as one character declares they're leaving the cobbles for London.

Last year on the ITV soap, Paul Foreman was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) and in recent scenes, Moses joined as his PA, replacing his usual PA Jim. It wasn't long until Moses proved to be a godsend and Todd Grimshaw has also taken a liking to the PA after being smitten from the first time they met.

Earlier this year, Paul, Billy Mayhew and Summer Spellman decided to matchmake Todd and Moses by arranging a surprise dinner for everyone. So far, Moses appears to have settled in well on the cobbles yet this is sadly set to change in upcoming scenes.

In upcoming episodes this week, Bernie Winter, who was released from prison on Friday, finds Billy in agony on the sofa after putting his back out helping Paul out of the bath due to Moses running late. Meanwhile, on the cobbles, a stressed Moses explains to Todd how overworked he is.

Todd offers Moses a comforting hug but the sweet gesture is spotted by a furious Bernie from a distance and it's not long before Moses receives a call from his boss telling him he’s now been suspended. And in spoilers next week, it appears that a dejected Moses is preparing to leave Weatherfield as he tells Todd that he’s moving to London to find another job. Will Moses really leave and what will this mean for both Todd and Paul?

Character accused of deadly crime as they're questioned by police

Coronation Street is lining up dramatic scenes next week as one character is accused of a deadly crime.

Only recently on the hit ITV soap, Ed Bailey opened up to his family about his gambling addiction, which left his loved ones seriously divided, especially after learning he had emptied the business account and lost all the funds in a casino. In scenes this week, his children Dee-Dee and Michael are shocked to find two bailiffs on the doorstep.

Later in the week, Ed is hoping that Gary will put in an offer for the yard and reveals his mate Marcus has offered him a bed at his house. However, things go from bad to worse when Gary explains to Ed that he won’t be buying the yard and Marcus calls Ed and tells him the spare room is no longer, which Ed covers for.

Yet word soon gets out when Ronnie tells Michael that Marcus has informed him Ed is now homeless as Leanne approaches and reveals that Ed seemed quite desperate after a fruitless meeting with Gary. And it's not long until Michael is horrified to see smoke billowing from the builder's yard, where he races up the stairs to see no sign of Ed. As Michael turns to leave, he realises the fire has spread and the stairs are engulfed in flames.

Next week is the aftermath of the dramatic fire as PC Craig Tinker takes Ed in for questioning. Later, when home, Michael wastes no time in asking Ed if he started the fire himself, to which he vehemently denies it but Michael is wary. Ed also admits to DS Swain that he knocked over some white spirit by accident but he certainly didn’t start the fire.

When Ed and Dee-Dee return home, Michael accuses Ed of burning down the yard so he could claim the insurance, which leaves Ed devastated over his son's hatred for him. Later, at the factory, Craig arrives and wants a word with Michael, where he confirms that the fire at the yard was in fact started by an electrical heater. This leaves Michael feeling very guilty but he's also relieved that his dad wasn’t responsible. Can Ed and Michael finally make amends?

Bethany made an explosive return to the cobbles on New Year's Eve having left in 2020 and it wasn't long until she caught the eye of former flame Daniel Osbourne, whose fiancée Daisy Midgeley recently cheated on him with Ryan Connor. This resulted in a new love triangle as Daisy struggled seeing Daniel pursue Bethany following her betrayal, especially after accidentally walking in on them getting cosy.

However, as Bethany and Daniel toasted in 2024, Bethany made a cryptic phone call while Daniel went out to get food. She said: "It's me, I withheld my number. Look, I know that I messed up but you have to give me a second chance," to which the call then abruptly came to an end as Bethany asked if anyone was still there.

Soap watchers have been left intrigued ever since and next week potentially offers an insight into the secret as she hides the truth from her loved ones. In upcoming scenes, Daniel finds Bethany engrossed in writing an article in the café but when he enquires what it’s about, Bethany is evasive.

Later, Bethany calls her publisher but she’s disappointed when they make it clear they’re not interested in her article. Things go from bad to worse later in the week when Daniel reminds Bethany it’s her turn to treat him to tea. However, Bethany lies and makes out she can’t as she’s working to a deadline.

It's not long before Bethany checks her bank balance and looks at her overdraft with concern, but she quickly covers in front of mum Sarah, who is none the wiser. Later in the week, Bethany meets with Suki from the Gazette in the hopes of some work and she advises her to try Chit-Chat Magazine as they may be looking for someone. Will Bethany line up work and is this what she has been hiding on the cobbles?
