Sofia is expecting her first child

Sofia Richie has announced that she's pregnant and expecting her first child with her husband Elliot Grainge - and she's even shared the gender of her first "dream" baby.

Sofia, 25, who is the youngest child of music legend Lionel Richie, married her husband Elliot in April 2023. And now the model has confirmed her pregnancy in an Instagram post.

The Instagram post was in partnership with Vogue Magazine, with the publication penning the caption, which read: "Congratulations are in order for Sofia Richie Grainge! The star is expecting her first child with her husband, Elliot Grainge."

The couple will soon welcome their baby daughter

The caption continued: "I’ve learned more in the past six months than I have in my entire life," with the quote coming from the interview the model did with the magazine.

In the chat, Sofia added: "And also just like what the female body is capable of. Every week brings new things, whether it’s hormonal shifts or expansion—there’s just so much our bodies go through, and it’s so interesting to experience it all."

Sofia also revealed that she and Elliot are expecting a baby girl. Talking about how she believes her daughter will be a Gemini, she told the magazine: "She’s growing pretty fast, so [the due date] is a bit up in the air."

Sofia then gushed over how much she loves gender reveal videos on social media, "so we had our OB text my assistant Becca [our baby’s gender], and we bought two party poppers: one blue, one pink," she explained.

"She left out the one with the correct colour inside, and Elliot and I popped it together. We both really thought it was a boy, so it was a true shock," she said.

Sofia then spoke how her "dream" in life is to have a daughter, adding: "And Elliot is really excited for a girl too. I think it’s so typical for boys to want boys, but he has a lot of sisters. It was really sweet. He’s very sensitive."

Sofia and Elliot got engaged in April 2022, with their wedding taking place one year later in April 2023. The parents-to-be exchanged vows at the swanky Hotel du Cap Eden Roc in the French Riviera.
