BBC announce new series of The Traitors will air straight after season 2 finale

Fans of The Traitors who were saddened by the prospect of having to wait another year for the next series to air on BBC1 have been given an unexpected surprise - by news that more drama is just around the corner.

Series two of the Claudia Winkleman-fronted show reaches its climax this week, with visual podcast spin-off Uncloaked following on. But the fun doesn't end there - for the BBC has announced the second series of the Australian version of the show will commence immediately afterwards.

What's more, the Beeb will soon air the latest US season of the programme, as well as the forthcoming first series of the New Zealand edition. The broadcaster previously tested the waters by offering UK viewers the opportunity to watch the debut Aussie series - which clearly didn't disappoint.

Dan McGolpin, Director of BBC iPlayer and Channels said: "The Traitors is one of the most thrilling shows around and the BBC will be following up on the latest UK series with more from Australia, New Zealand and the US, with all of this treachery to be available across 2024 on BBC iPlayer."

The BBC has promised to pull out all the stops ahead of series two's conclusion, meanwhile. Not only will the episode see all 'murdered' and banished contestants invited back, but major stars including Sophie Ellis Bextor and Stacey Dooley will also make an appearance.

The first of the final three episodes airs tonight (Thursday) at 9pm, before we learn if it's the Faithfuls or the Traitors that take home the huge cash prize at the end of this week. In further good news, viewers can expect an impressive 110 minutes of The Traitors content across BBC1 and BBC2 to mark the end of the series on Friday night.

The final episode will give the remaining Faithfuls and Traitors one last chance to figure each other out to win the prize pot. Uncloaked will then see host Ed Gamble reunite the 22 players for the first time since they were either 'killed' off or banished from the game.

Speaking to The Sun, a TV insider said: "So far, Uncloaked has featured celebrity guests like Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Stacey Dooley, but bosses know the cast themselves are the big draw so are amping it up as a huge reunion special for Friday night. It means fans can sit down to a whopping 110 minutes of Traitors action - 70 for the main show and 40 for the spin-off."
