Best month to sell a house on average is February, says property website
Rightmove says February is the top month to put your house on sale.
Homes put up for sale in February usually find a buyer fastest and are most likely to be marked as sold, Rightmove's research shows. Homes listed in February take about 51 days to get a buyer, just quicker than March's 52 days.
Also, more homes listed in February (66.4%) find a buyer compared to March (66.3%). The study looked a big sample of homes for sale since 2012 and when they were listed, but it didn't count 2020 because the pandemic was not a typical year.
October is not so good for selling your home. It takes around 63 days to find a buyer in October, and only 63.6% of homes listed then find one.
Tim Bannister from Rightmove said: "The best time to get moving is the time that's right for you we can't always plan or predict when a life move is needed. However, for those who are able to be a bit more flexible about when they decide to sell, the data shows typically the start of the year has been particularly strong.
