All the Oscars snubs as Margot Robbie 'robbed' and Leonardo DiCaprio misses out
Nominations have been announced for the 96th annual Academy Awards, which comes more than a month before the Oscars, which are taking place in Los Angeles.
The glitzy ceremony will be hosted by American comedian Jimmy Kimmel and broadcast live from the Dolly Theatre in Hollywood. The occasion will celebrate the best of on-screen talent and features from the year 2023.
But among the buzz for the nominees who have been announced today, there is a lot of shock and surprise among social media users online. Many are gobsmacked with the stars who have been snubbed, with the likes of Barbie actress Margot Robbie getting "robbed".

A huge shock to many film buffs and Barbie movie fans was the fact that Margot Robbie received no recognition for playing Barbie in the hit flick of the summer of 2023. Not only this but the director of Barbie, Greta Gerwig, was also snubbed.
Serena Williams finally breaks silence on Will Smith Oscar slap one year onAlthough Margot and Greta were snubbed for the hit flick, Ryan Gosling, who played the role of Ken did receive a nod - which isn't sitting too well with social media users. Another Barbie nod saw America Ferrera recognised for her role as Gloria in the flick.
"Ken getting nominated and not Barbie is honestly so fitting for a film about a man discovering the power of patriarchy in the Real World," penned one person on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Another added: "So Ryan Gosling’s nominated for playing Ken but Margot Robbie isn’t nominated for playing Barbie… in Barbie." While a third said: "The fact that the supporting characters got Oscar nods but the woman who played Barbie herself got nothing is not sitting right with me…" And a fourth said: "WHY DID MARGOT GET ROBBED OF THE LEADING ACTRESS NOMINATION, TAKE RYAN GOSLINGS OFF HIM RIGHT NOW."
Touching on Greta's snub, one person said: "Every year - the Oscars snub women behind the camera - but Greta Gerwig - come on!!!!! The Oscars really hate women."
Other stars who were snubbed in the Oscars nominations were the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio for his acting in Killers Of The Flower Moon. Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese were also snubbed for their work on Killers of the Flower Moon. And Bradley Cooper for directing Maestro, although he was recognised for acting in the biopic.
Penelope Cruz was another film star who was snubbed, with her not recognised for starring as Laura in Ferrari. With new flick The Color Purple not making it into the Best Picture category, much to the shock of the general public.
Andrew Scott's All of Us Strangers was also left out completely. While Willem Dafoe, who plays the role of Emma Stone's character's father in Poor Things failed to get a nod in the noms.
