Exact date heavy snow will blanket UK in major Greenland frost blast
The UK could be battered by more heavy snow just a few short weeks after chaotic stormy scenes around the country.
Despite the slightly milder temperatures the next two weeks will bring, another blanket of snow is not far behind, it's been claimed. A weather forecast said "some major snow and cold weather" will return from February 2 and 3, and it'll come our way from Greenland.
The ominous snow warning came as the UK was in the middle of a storm sandwich. Storm Isha batter the country on Sunday and Monday, whereas Storm Jocelyn was forecast to make landfall on Tuesday afternoon.
ExactaWeather's James Madden told the Daily Star: "Our projections are consistently showing up the potential for another temporary snow event towards the end of the working week and into next weekend that could bring further heavy snow to the north/ Scotland, and potentially to parts of northern England, Wales and Northern Ireland/Ireland within this period.
"This is only likely to be a passing snow event for later next week and not the return of the cold and snow proper. However, we do expect some major snow and cold weather to start gaining significant ground to return for in and around February 2 and 3, possibly a little earlier or later depending on a small standard deviation for any timeline changes between now and then."
Gales, snow and rain to batter country today with 80mph wind gusts"A strong Greenland blocking pattern is also something that we have repeatedly and consistently insisted would happen for February and from as early as September, due to an earlier and now confirmed sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) event."
He also confirmed that a snowstorm - albeit temporary - could actually hit northern England, Northern Ireland, and Wales next week (January 29).
The comments were backed up by the latest satellite data from WXCharts, which shows that the vast majority of the country will be encased by snow from about midday on February 3. The charts also showed that there could be about two centimetres per hour of snow for at least six hours in places such as Leeds, Manchester, and parts of Scotland.
