Billy Joel remains one of the most influential artists of all time and has sold over 160 million albums around the world. Hits such as Piano Man, Uptown Girl, and We Didn’t Start The Fire have stood the test of time, earning him the accolade of being one of the Top Artists on Spotify. Upon his 100th sold-out performance at Madison Square Garden, his home state of New York declared July 18 to be 'Billy Joel Day'.

In November last year he shared that not only was he one of the top singers of all time, but he had also become a stellar dad and earned some serious cool points with his daughters thanks to Taylor Swift. The Piano Man singer, 74, has admitted TayTay, 33, helped him gain kudos with daughters Della Rose, eight, and Remy Anne, six, after whisking them off to watch her Eras Tour in Tampa, Florida. However, going above and beyond, the veteran musician managed to secure more adulation from his youngest kids after setting up a meeting with the Shake It Off star.

And he also shared he himself could well be a Swiftie, calling Taylor's performance "great". He gushed: "She's really very good. We're going to probably go see her again."

The Uptown Girl singer first revealed he had attended the concert in an Instagram post shortly after the gig in April. He shared snaps of himself, his wife Alexis Roderick, and their two girls entering the stadium. Alongside the sweet carousel of images, he wrote: "Rockin’ into our new ‘era’ thank you @Taylorswift we loved the show! #Swifties, #TaylorSwift #TheErasTour."

He later described the Taylor phenomenon as something that can only be compared to Beatlemania. It follows his 2021 comments to USA Today in which he provided a similar sentiment. At the time, he told the publication: "Taylor is also a very talented girl, and she's productive and keeps coming up with great concepts and songs, and she's huge," he said. "You have to give her high marks. She knows music, and she knows how to write. She's like that generation's Beatles."
