The clip, which was shared with her followers on Instagram last night, showed Adele stood by her mother's bedside. She was seen holding up her phone to Jackie, who appeared impressed with the footage. Grace VanderWaal's song Clearly was heard in the rehearsal footage that Adele was showing her mother.

Adele and her skating partner Mark performed a routine to the song on Sunday night. The pair received a score of 27.5, which is the joint highest score of the series so far. Eddie the Eagle and his partner Vicky Ogden also got that score.

Following her debut on the ITV show, Adele took to Instagram to announce that her routine was dedicated to her late mother. She shared photos of Jackie and the clip in the post, which was met with support from her followers.

Adele wrote: "For you Mum. Tonight's performance was dedicated to the memory of my beautiful Mum, Jackie Roberts. 01.09.62 - 04.01.24. I didn't want to say anything until I'd managed to get through our routine tonight. So apologies if it seemed I was overly emotional.

"My heart is broken and I miss my mum so much. Saying goodbye to her this week was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. My mum got to see the start of our routine… and tonight I wanted to finish it in her honour."

She further commented: "To my family. Thank you for keeping my head up and for giving me the strength to carry on. Thank you also to all the amazing people who came to help us say goodbye to her this week. You brought us so much comfort standing by our side."

Adele added: "Thank you to the whole incredible [DOI] team for guiding me through one of the toughest weeks of my life. Especially you [Mark]. I know how much you wanted to help me do my mum proud and I know it would have been playing on your mind all night. You are incredible. Thank you for teaching me to dance, to skate and joy of expressing emotion through my body. Your sport is so beautiful. I still can't believe tonight happened."

She continued: "Thank you to every single person who has supported us so far. We are absolutely blown away by your encouragement and kindness. Mark and I are truly grateful and we promise to keep trying our best and give it 100%."

"And to my biggest supporter from day one - my incredible mum. Goodnight my love. I shall think of you and miss you everyday of my life. Forever my hero. Until we meet again," the radio presenter concluded.

Adele has not shared her mum's cause of death, though has previously posted about her ill health. On Christmas Day in 2022 the radio star said Jackie was "not well" in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. Days later she thanked fans for their well-wishes and wrote about her mum: "Through her illness she's still got her wit."

She went on to post on New Year's Eve that year: "Life savers. Carers are absolute worldies! Thank you to Outreach carers, St Mark's district nurses and Sefton council for going above and beyond to help my Mum when she needed you the most. Working out of hours, doing long days, being on call and away from their own families over the Christmas period is truly outstanding. The passion they have for what they do is second to none and they do it all expertly and without expecting recognition. I'm in awe."

Adele added: "I am so grateful for everything you've done for my Mum and our family. You're absolute angels It's been the biggest lesson in what Christmas is all about (to me). Ultimately It's your loved ones, spending time with them and special memories that matter the most… The way my Mum has been looked after and cared for is the best present I could ever receive. Sometimes when things go wrong it's so they can lead you on the right path and now my Mum is getting the specialist help and treatment she needs. THANK YOU to everyone who helped make that happen."
