Corrie's Tracy Barlow set for steamy affair with Tommy Orpington in big betrayal

One Coronation Street resident is set to possibly enter their WAG era as Tracy Barlow shares a sneaky kiss with a footballing legend.

Tracy (Kate Ford) has struck it lucky as Weatherfield footballing legend, come painter/decorator, Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn) gets to work at the Barlows - working his charm on the mum-of-one. This week fans of the ITV soap will watch as Tracy employs newly retired footballer Tommy to spruce up her interiors, after being underwhelmed by husband Steve McDonald's efforts in the bedroom.

With lazy Steve failing to get the the job done, Tommy gets going on the interior mission, but it quickly becomes clear his mind isn't just on the work as the sexual chemistry between Tracy and Tommy leaves her hot under the collar. As Tommy admits he fancies Tracy and leans in for a kiss, it looks like there's no red card for Tommy as Tracy takes their attraction to extra time! As the pair embark on a steamy affair, has loveable Steve scored a huge own goal by letting his footballing icon home in on his Mrs?!

Ex Weathy County striker Tommy actor Matt Milburn said of reprising his role and the juicy storyline: "I was absolutely thrilled and over the moon, because it’s something I’ve wanted for years. I’ve played Tommy intermittently since 2016 so to be told that I was going to be coming back and given something far more substantial, I was delighted. Tommy is the perfect character for me to play because I love football and he’s a famous northern footballer. It’s great to be back!"

Chatting about Tommy and Tracy's chemistry, he added: "I think he likes her sparky nature, her quick retorts and her banter is very sharp. He likes being kept on his toes. She’s not an easy target in many ways. I just think that they seem to have this chemistry between them that none of them see coming."

Speaking earlier this month, Matt teased the possibility of his character striking up a romance with Tracy as he told Inside Soap magazine about a future fling being on the cards for Tommy. "I was made-up. It's something a bit different," he told the publication. "Though having not done anything romantic on screen for a long, long time, I did have a little bit of self-doubt and worry. However, once I got past that and looked at the scripts, it just turned to excitement. Now I've filmed a bit of the story already, and it's gone really well."

Matt, who has also appeared on Emmerdale and Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, went on to admit it was a nice surprise to get the call from Corrie boss inviting him to reprise his role on the cobbles. The actor, who made his Corrie debut in 2016, said: "It's great to be back! Having played Tommy on and off since about 2016, to finally get my wish of coming back for something more substantial, I'm over the moon."
