An embarrassed guest on Antiques Roadshow accidentally ripped a valuable Beatles collectable while showing it off on camera.

The woman revealed that her grandfather had bought the unique item, which contained a strip of photos of each band member, for her mother as a graduation gift. She said: "I brought in my mom's Beatles necklace. My grandfather gave it to my mom for her high school graduation, and she showed it to me.

"It's got a lovely snap on the back, and when you open it up, you open it up to all of the Beatles." However, the guest didn't handle the item with the care it needed and ended up ripping the photos, while standing in the gardens of the Alaska Native Heritage Center.

Shocked, she exclaimed: "Oh and it just ripped, but you open it up to all of the Beatles inside." The now-separated strip of photos included headshots of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The Beatles, who hail from Liverpool, rose to fame in the 1960s and are still considered the most influential band of all time.

PBS has since shared footage of the unfortunate incident online. In the video's caption, they warned: "Our first sad trombone moment in a non-Vintage episode and it's a doozy."

The incident divided views among TikTok users. Some found it hilarious while others sympathised with the poor woman. One user commented about her mishandling the item while another felt that the woman was simply nervous. They commented: "OK but she was like manhandling that (laughing emojis)," and "The poor woman! She's nervous! That's so relatable. I would have probably done the same. Accidents happen."

Another viewer was left gasping: "I just gasped so loud." A fourth user claimed they had a similar item in one piece and found the woman at fault saying: "I still have mine exactly like that but mine is still in one piece! I about died watching this! Sooo sad but that was her fault!!"

"Crazy that her mom had kept it pristine all the years and then her kid probably begged her to take it on this show, only to rip it," one offended user commented. One saw the bright side and added: "Well, it was only worth 75 in the firt place," along with a shrugging emoji.
