Keith and Lisa's split has come as a shock to their loved ones

Boyzone star Keith Duffy and his fashion stylist wife Lisa Smith have separated after 25 years together.

The 49-year-old singer is understood to have moved out of the £1.15million family home in Dublin just before Christmas. The pair have since unfollowed each other on social media and Keith is believed to be “in bits” over the separation.

A source told us: “It has come as a shock to everyone. Back in July, they appeared happier than ever while celebrating 25 years together on a trip of a lifetime to the French Riviera.” The source said they were “trying to keep the divorce civil” for the sake of their son Jay, 27, and daughter Mia, 23.

Keith and Lisa met at a Dublin nightclub in 1995 and were expecting son Jay just nine months into their relationship.

The Boyzone star – who also played barman Ciaran McCarthy in Coronation Street – asked Lisa to marry him just two days before they got hitched in Las Vegas in 1998. In July, they gushed about each other in 25th anniversary posts. Keith said: “Celebrating 25 years in Style. The French Riviera doesn’t disappoint.” He also thanked personal shopper Sinead Keary “for decking out Smithy in such Sexy attire”.

And Lisa wrote: “Celebrating 25 years married to my bestie, longest time ever I’ve had him home all to myself! Love him even more, thanks for the laughs and the joy of being loved, feeling very blessed #still going strong.”

In a Weekend magazine interview in 2020, Keith spoke about what it takes to keep a marriage together. He said: “Number one, you have to want it to work. Number two, it takes a lot of compromise. Number three, it takes forgiveness. Some people can’t make it work, though. I’d never judge, but I do think sometimes people give up too easily. It’s easy to walk away. It’s harder to stay.”

A spokeswoman for Keith declined to comment on the split.
