Ross Carson teased that he's going to "take revenge" for his mother Diane Carson's 'murder' following his recruitment into the Traitors ahead of the upcoming finale next week.

The latest episode of the BBC show saw Ross, 28, become the newest Traitor after being recruited by Harry Clark, 22, and Andrew Jenkins, 45. He said in a confessional after receiving the invitation: "If you can't beat them, join them."

He later discovered who the remaining Traitors were and asked why they 'murdered' Diane, 63. Harry - who's the only original Traitor left following the departures of Ash Bibi and Paul Gorton - teased that she had to be "put in her place," telling Ross that the former contestant was "too brave".

Ross responded in a confessional: "I could feel myself going to boiling point. My mum was murdered so I will take revenge." He went on to further tease about his new teammates: "If I've got an opportunity, they're getting it."

Fans had been hoping in recent days that the video director would be recruited so that he could get "revenge" following the departure of his mother Diane. Some viewers reacted to his remarks on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday, with it predicted that it will be "great" TV if he pulls it off.

"If Ross manages to actually successfully avenge his Mother, then this will become possibly one of the greatest series of television ever produced. You simply could not write it," someone wrote. Another said about it: "If Ross avenges Diane's death this will be the greatest TV moment in history."

Some fans had hoped that Ross would be recruited in a previous episode, with one writing at the time: "I think Ross will be recruited and will avenge his mother's death from the inside! This is why their secret relationship is so key and the traitors wouldn’t know that he would double cross them!"

Another said that they were "manifesting that they recruit Ross" and that he "betrays" the Traitors to "avenge" Diane. Someone else wrote about the previous recruitment: "Pick Ross. He can avenge Diane!" Another said: "You don't understand how badly i need Ross to become a Traitor [...] destroying them from the inside to avenge Diane."

Diane's fate was confirmed in episode seven, after she was previously given a 'poisoned chalice' by Miles Asteri, 36 - who was a late recruit into the Traitors. Her departure came following a funeral procession for the retired teacher.

Ross - who the group aren't aware is Diane's son - teased following the news that she would be leaving that the group would try to find Traitors that evening. Paul, who was a Traitor, was subsequently banished at the round table.

In a confessional, Diane said: "I'm okay with it being me. It would have been way worse if it'd been Ross." Whilst her son said in his own confessional: "Me and mum always said like whatever happens, keep the secret and crack on y'know. At the end of the day we wanna win this thing!"

The Traitors' second series concludes next week, with the next episode due to air on Wednesday (January 24) onBBC One and BBC iPlayer from 9pm. Catch up on previous episodes now through the streaming platform.
