For one day only, iconic British retailer Boots is offering its loyal following of Advantage Card holders a pretty sweet deal to celebrate its 175th birthday. The cult pharmaceutical and cosmetic store is giving customers who hold a loyalty card a whopping 17.5 points for every pound when you spend £60 or over online.

To put that into perspective, if you were to get this £61 Drunk Elephant moisturiser (50ml) on a regular day, you'd receive 183 points. But today, you'd receive 1,067 - which equates to £10.67. For something a little more pricey - Philips Lumea IPL 8000 series, for example, at £329.99, your 989 points is transformed into 5,775 points, i.e. £57.75 to spend.

So you're getting nearly six times the normal number of points - but this offer is valid for today, Friday, January 19, only and it's only valid for spending online.

Seeing as its a special anniversary, let's give you some of Boots' history. John Boot opened the first Boots in 1849 in Nottingham with an aim to sell affordable medicines. His son, Jesse, later expanded it to offer over-the-counter medicines - sold cheaper than alternative chemists and pharmacies - and his wife Florence cemented Boots' involvement in becoming a go-to place for affordable beauty.

Alongside this deal, Boots is also offering Advantage Card members 17.5% off selected No7 product when they spend £15 or more.

If you've not got an Advantage Card and you're intrigued about its benefits, let us explain. The Advantage Card system is like a VIP pass to access lower prices on hundreds, if not thousands, of products via something called 'Price Advantage' scheme and automatically adds a 10% discount on Boots own brand products for members. Plus, the more points you get the more money you could receive off products as one point equals one penny back. And with every pound you spend, you earn three points.

In order for this deal to apply, you must be logged onto Boots with your Advantage Card and, unfortunately, the offer excludes Shark, Dyson, premium beauty boxes, gift cards and a handful of other items - read more on that here. However, some other product deals to inspire you include Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Eau De Parfum 30ml, that costs £68 - previously you would have got 204 points but now you can achieve a whopping 1,190 points. For some anti-ageing goodies, the Gold Collagen Forte 30 Day Programme, which comes in at £80, will accumulate 1,400 points aka £14 extra to spend.

To make use of this offer, which is only valid today (Friday, January 19), visit the Boots website.
