Doja Cat's mother filed for a restraining order against her son

Doja Cat's mother claims that the singer has been made to feel "unsafe and traumatised" by her brother, who allegedly abused her.

The Say So singer was mentioned in a court filing from her mother Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer, who filed for a temporary restraining order against her son, Raman Dalithando Dlamini. According to court documents obtained by The Mirror, Deborah listed Doja as another person in need of protection from Raman after he allegedly "knocked her teeth out" and left bruising and lacerations.

Deborah claims that Raman was "verbally abusive" toward his sister "in a very degrading and demeaning manor [sic]." Deborah claims that the 30-year-old physically also abused her and reportedly threatened her multiple times over the past year, claiming that the most recent incident happened earlier this month.

The judge granted Doja Cat's mother a temporary restraining order against Raman, "pending a hearing for a permanent restraining order," but didn't extend the order for Doja directly who would have to file her own request for a restraining order. Court records do not yet indicate that the musician has done so.

According to the court documents, Deborah fears her 13-year-old grandson "is learning and being influenced these bullying behaviours" and she doesn't want him to think Raman's actions are "normal." As per Deborah's request, the judge also granted a restraining order against Raman for Deborah's grandson. Deborah previously filed for a restraining order in 2017 against Raman which was granted, according to court documents and both cases' details obtained by The Mirror.

Deborah wrote in her plea to the court: "I'm in constant anxiety and fear for my emotional wellbeing and safty [sic]. There is a continual threat of verbal and physical threats to my life and general physical safety. He has choked and threatened to hit me several times."

The singer has since been active on Instagram, sharing a selfie yesterday with a smiley face for her caption. She has yet to publicly address the legal issue, but fans flooded her comments with messages regarding the situation.

Deborah Sawyer declined to comment. The Mirror contacted Doja Cat, but has not yet received a reply. Raman could not be reached for comment.
