Murders at Karlov Manor is coming soon, and we have an exclusive card preview

Magic: The Gathering's latest release, Murders at Karlov Manor (MKM) is a crossover with the popular Hasbro game Cluedo, and will contain 81 commons, 100 uncommons, 60 rares, 10 rare dual lands, and 20 mythic rares. It centres around a murderous conspiracy gripping Ravnica and its guilds, and its up to you to discover who committed the murders at Karlov Manor.

Releasing 9 February 2024, the set will also include three unique variations of each of the basic lands, as well as alternative treatments featuring unique artwork, styles, and aesthetics - including showcase magnified treatments, dossier treatments, and Ravnica City treatments.

You can find out more about the set here, which will be released with four commander decks, collector boosters, and play boosters. It features a handful of new mechanics, some familiar characters, and even a chance to pull a Special Guests card - a reprint from magic's history featuring brand-new artwork.

Exclusive Card Preview - The Pride of Hull Clade

We're proud to reveal the Pride of Hull Clade - an 11 mana green card with 2 power and 15 toughness. It comes in two prints, and is a Legendary Creature - Crocodile Elk Turtle.

Although it has 11 mana as a base cost, its ability lets you reduce the spell by a number equal to the total toughness of creatures you control. This means best case scenario, you could get it as cheap as one single green mana.

In addition, you can expend 4 mana (2 blue, plus 2 other) to give a target creature +1/+0, and let you draw cards equal to its toughness whenever it deals damage to a player. In addition, the card you choose also gets to attack as though it didn't have a defender, meaning that it essentially becomes unblockable, and is guaranteed to proc this ability.

This gives potentially insane draw power in a game where card economy is everything. In addition, the card is exceptionally tough to kill through combat, since it packs 15 toughness. It's an awesome defender, and if it buffs a different card, it gets to deflect some of the heat away from it by creating another, potentially equally dangerous threat.

The card will need to find a place in green/blue decks, since the ability in the card text requires 2 blue mana to use. Besides this however, it's going to be extremely versatile, being potentially very cheap to cast and extremely powerful when paired with other high-toughness cards.

Keep your eye out for more card reveals, as well as a daily puzzle beginning on 2 February, before the set releases on 9 February 2024.
