Warzone Season 1 Reloaded release time – here's when the new update launches
Warzone Season 1 Reloaded will be dropping this week, here's exactly when the mid-season update goes live.
Call of Duty's popular battle royale title is now in its third iteration, and with the new MW3-inspired edition of Warzone over a month old, its first mid-season content update is on the horizon. Activision confirmed the Warzone Season 1 Reloaded start date last week and revealed some of the new gameplay mechanics that will be introduced, such as Covert Exfil, which allows you to exit the match early. But, Raven Software has since rolled back on its decision to include Covert Exfil in battle royale, confirming in a Twitter post that the feature has been delayed and won't feature in the Season 1 Reloaded update.
Here's exactly what time Warzone Season 1 Reloaded will release and some of the new content that players can expect.
Warzone Season 1 Reloaded release time
The Warzone Season 1 Reloaded release time is 5pm GMT / 12pm EST / 9am PST on Wednesday, January 17, as confirmed via Activision's blog post. As with every Warzone seasonal update, Season 1 Reloaded mid-season update will launch simultaneously in all regions and on all platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Players on PlayStation and PC (via Battle.net) will be able to preload Season 1 Reloaded before the update goes live, but players on Xbox and PC (via Steam) will have to wait until just before the content goes live in-game to download the update. Big Warzone updates almost always happen at 5pm GMT / 12pm EST / 9am PST on a Wednesday, as we saw with the MW3 Warzone release time, and it's the same story with Warzone Season 1 Reloaded.
Why Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's six week delay is a good thingWarzone Season 1 Reloaded: what to expect
Players can expect to see a host of new content in Warzone Season 1 Reloaded, including a brand-new Champions Quest that can be triggered by winning five matches in a row, or new following this update, by winning 30 games within the current season. Also, players can now steal a Champions Quest that's playing out in a match, adding more variety and jeopardy for anyone wanting to complete the hardcore objective.
As always, there will be a variety of new weapons and aftermarket parts including the TAQ Evolvere (LMG), HRM-9 (SMG), JAK Purifier (Aftermarket Parts) and JAK Ettin Double Barrel Kit (Aftermarket Parts). And a new mechanic called Covert Exfil was supposed to be introduced in this update, which allows you to exit a live battle royale match early, but it now won't feature in Season 1 Reloaded, with devs Raven Software saying it will instead look to launch this "in an upcoming dedicated mode" instead.
Players who exit the match using Covert Exfil won't get a battle royale win in a traditional sense, with Covert Exfil stats instead being tracked in a separate leaderboard to battle royale wins. There's also a new Gulag Public Event that plunges players into complete darkness, making night vision your new best friend. There's also a new The Boys crossover, with characters A-Train and Firecracker set to be added as paid skin bundles.
