The Critics' Choice Awards gave viewers their first celebrity meme of the year and more awkward moments as it went underway last night.

Hollywood's finest, from Meg Ryan and Leonardo Di Caprio, to silver screen stars like Margot Robbie and Cillian Murphy made their way to the event, dressed to the nines to pick up their awards. Comedian Chelsea Handler hosted the event again, returning to the gig after smashing it last year.

Ryan Gosling had a very unique reaction to his song winning award, with the actor becoming a meme, with the Ken actor from the hit Barbie movie going viral on Sunday night at the Critics' Choice Awards.

Harrison Ford calls co-star Helen Mirren "still sexy" and a "remarkable actress"

The 43-year-old Canadian actor could be seen looking slightly stoic and horrified when his hit song I’m Just Ken from Barbie was named Best Original Song at the ceremony.

Raising his eyebrows and looking a little taken aback, the actor's expression was quick to make the rounds on social media, which came after leaving fans in stitches.

Robert De Niro and Harrison Ford cringe over 'old men' comment

Harrison Ford and Robert De Niro could be seen cringing and looking taken aback at a comment that Chelsea Handler made in her opening monologue at the awards.

Chelsea joked that she had a penchant for men who had "been alive since the railway was invented", with her even name-dropping the two iconic actors when she gushed over how she prefers her men "old".

After saying that she preferred her men "old", she revealed that she was "looking" right at "Robert Deniro and Harrison". She said: "I don't know which one of you is more of a smokeshow, but you both have been so hot for decades and just keep getting hotter.

"It's enough already. I know you're both spoken for, so I'm not hitting on you. But I am hitting on you," she swooned. She also spoke of the way in which she felt about Harrison, before adding how he made her feel like a "flustered Barbie".

Ariana De Bose fuming over cutting joke

Singer, actor, and dancer Ariana DeBose was fuming after The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey poked fun at her after making a joke about "actors who think they are singers" at the 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards.

The 32-year-old didn't look best pleased when the camera panned to her and later took to Instagram to let her 712k followers know that she "didn't find" the joke "funny" at all. Fans who defended Ariana directed their anger to the show's writers rather than Bella, one with writing: "I won't blame young Bella, the presenter...but how DARE a writer for the intro label Ariana, a Broadway triple threat, with the smarmy category of 'actors who think they can sing."

Harrison hints at retiring

Harrison Ford fans were left concerned that he might retire from acting after hints in his Critics' Choice speech. After being celebrated for his iconic roles in movies like Star Wars at the awards, he focussed on the future of the industry, saying: "I'm really happy to be here tonight to see what our business is turning into and all the talented people who are getting opportunities that probably wouldn't have in the early part of my career."

The Indiana Jones legend, 81, seemed visibly humbled with tears in his eyes as he made his way to the stage. In a modest reflection on his success, he attributed some of it to luck.

While peers could only congratulate him for his incredible acting feats, one observer noted that the "speech sounded a lot like a retirement speech." Another concurred, stating: "It did. It made it very uncomfortable and sad to see him there like that."

Chelsea Handler pokes fun at her ex

The show's hosts poked fun at her ex Jo Koy by recycling one of his Golden Globes monologue joke after he hosted the ceremony last week. After gushing over Harrison and Robert, she said: "Unfortunately, Martin Scorsese isn't here tonight, but that's not going to stop me from letting everyone in this room know that I would toss him around like a little Italian meatball."

It was then that Chelsea joked: "Thank you for laughing at that. My writer's wrote it," to which many of the audience, including those who were at the Golden Globes, gave an extended applause. Previously, Jo had made a Barbie joke which fell flat among the crowd at the Globes and he said: "Yo, I got the gig 10 days ago.

"You want a perfect monologue? Yo, shut up. Slow down. I wrote some of these and they're the ones you're laughing at," he added. Days later, he said it was a "rookie move" to blame his three writers for the joke. Jo and Chelsea dated from 2021 to 2022.

Cillian Murphy loses Oppenheimer win to Paul Giamatti

Cillian Murphy lost the Best Actor Critics' Choice Award for his role in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer to Paul Giamatti, who took home the gong for The Holdovers. Taking to the stage, the actgor poked fun at his viral moment last week following his GOlden Globe win, when he was pictured eating at fast food joint In-N-Out with his award in a full tuxedo.

He said: "Oh, my gosh. Wow, guys. I didn't think my week could get any better than going viral for eating a cheeseburger. I'm serious guys. I need that endorsement. Let's pray for me. Thank you.

"Did everybody get their pizza in a bag by the way? I think that would be a good endorsement Paul Giamatti for pizza in a bag. This is corduroy," Paul hilariously added.
