Former Strictly Come Dancing husband and wife duo, James and Ola Jordan, have shared a new update on their daughter's health amid fears she could have a hole in heart.

The professional dancers welcomed "miracle" Ella into the world in February 2020 after struggling for years with fertility issues. Almost four years on, however, the family have been rocked by news the youngster could have a serious health condition.

Ella was rushed to hospital just before Christmas with a high temperature and was soon diagnosed with pneumonia. In recent times she has become prone to colds and chest infections. Now, doctors believe they may have an explanation for her weakened immune system, much to the alarm of her doting parents.

Ola, 41, told Hello magazine: "Ella was first diagnosed with a heart murmur a couple of years ago. Then, just before her second birthday, she was at the hospital and the doctor said, 'I'm not sure about her heart; there’s a little hole that needs to be double checked with another doctor'."

James, 45, added: "We were told that if she does have a hole in the heart, they can’t do anything until she’s older and stronger, so they suggested we wait."

Latin American specialist Ola recalled the "horrendous" moment they looked on as nurses put a cannula in her arm for IV fluids as James gripped her in a "bear hug" to keep her still. "As a parent you feel so helpless with your child so ill," she explained. "I stayed overnight in the hospital with Ella because only one parent was allowed, even though James also wanted to stay."

Fortunately, Ella made a full recovery and was discharged in time for Christmas, enabling the family to spend the festive season at home. Last year Ola shared how she hopes to have more children in the future after turning to IVF for Ella.

"I would love to have more children if it happens naturally, if it doesn't I will go for another IVF, yes," the dancer explained on GB News. "It's really hard because you don't know who to turn to. Most of my friends used to get pregnant so easily," she added.

"I didn't understand why I wasn't getting pregnant. I was healthy, fit, I was a professional dancer. It's very hard and it's very hard to turn to someone because everyone was getting pregnant around me. But then when I went through IVF and I announced that I was going through IVF suddenly I found all those women coming up to me and going 'I did IVF', so suddenly there were a lot of women that I could talk to. It's still a subject that people don't want to talk about, unfortunately."
