Strictly star suffers horror ski accident as she is rescued on French slopes
Saffron Barker needed to be rescued on the slopes after her first day skiing in the French Alps went horribly wrong.
The Strictly Come Dancing star suffered a horror accident on Sunday and the mountain's medical team rushed to her aid and strapped up her leg in a brace while she sat on the ice. Posting a photo of the emergency crew doing all they could to help, she sarcastically captioned the shot: "Day 1 of skiing going well."
She returned later with a video of herself getting taken back to her hotel by ski patrols and captioned another photo: "Well this isn't how I planned to use this sound, story time is needed.. #skifails". But it doesn't look like it's wrecked her adventurous trip as she was soon back on the snow, this time taking things easy.
There's always time for a warm drink on winter breaks and she later put up a playful snap of her sinking some hot chocolate as she took some time out to reflect on a tough start to the break. She is there with her family and those back home were worried about her. AJ Pritchard, who performed with her on the show with in 2020, wished her a speedy recovery.

Another video show showed her being towed to safety on a sledge as she went to get treatment (Instagram)Concerned fans flooded her with love as one wrote: “Oh saff it would be you, i hope your okay though keep us updated my love.” A second said: “Bad luck. Get well soon.” While a third wrote: “Oh sweetheart sending you lots of love xx.” Other posts from the trip show her enjoying snowboarding - it seems to have been her first ever day on a ski or snowboard.

She is in Alps with her brother Jed and his girlfriend Imogen Thomas. With the rugby season in full flow and sports stars generally not allowed to go skiing, there was no sign of Welsh star Louis Rees-Zammit. She missed the 22-year-old Gloucester ace score a wonder try this weekend after they went official with their romance at the end of last year.
She declared her love for Louis following a whirlwind few days, that included the attendance of a film premiere. The couple also enjoyed a night out in Cardiff with friends and she was even able to bond with his mother, Maxine. One of his team mates, Dan Biggar said: "We all just take the mick out of him. The boys all call him St Tropez Away. They reckon he's going to start a rugby team in St Tropez."
Saffron has her own YouTube channel where she posts about lifestyle and beauty, fashion and fitness. It has more than two million subscribers. She met up with Wales star Louis using the celebrity dating app Raya. “We actually matched on Raya,” she revealed on her podcast Sex, Lies & DM Slides.
“We actually had no idea who each other were. From there he followed me and messaged me on Instagram. She recalled previously: “So our first date, we went out for lunch. It was really nice. And I remember instantly, I mean, I already knew him so well, genuinely it wasn’t awkward from the second we saw each other.”
