Hannah Spearritt will perform this weekend, but this isn't the first time she had the opportunity to take to the ice.

The S Club 7 star previously auditioned for Dancing on Ice before her former bandmate Rachel Stevens signed up to the ITV show. Speaking to the Mirror and other press, Hannah explained how she was close to joining an earlier celebrity line-up until she found out she was pregnant.

"I’d auditioned for it before, a few years ago. I came out of it feeling quite positive but then I fell pregnant so that didn't happen. I think it's one of those things where it's jumping into the unknown, hugely," Hannah said.

"When I auditioned for it this time there was such a positive, kind energy. When I went on the ice with Karen, she kind of sold me on it. I was like, 'I've never been on the ice before, just at Christmas time, just hanging onto the rails,'" she continued.

"Literally within the 20 minutes I was on the ice with her I felt like I learned so much. It was amazing. I thought, 'Bloody hell, if I can learn and progress that much in 20 minutes, imagine what I could do with more time.'"

The singer is mum to two children with her fitness instructor partner Adam Thomas. Hannah has daughters Tea, four, and Tora, two. Although it's not clear which pregnancy Hannah was referring to, regardless her original audition for Dancing on Ice took place before her former bandmate Rachel signed up in 2022 for the 2023 series.

Rachel grew close to her skating partner Brendyn Hatfield during her time on the ITV show and it's been reported ITV bosses are concerned there could be awkward run-ins between the former S Club bandmates. It comes after Hannah quit S Club weeks before the band’s 25th anniversary tour following the shock death of bandmate and former boyfriend Paul Cattermole in April last year at the age of just 46.

Since then it has been reported that the five remaining members of S Club, including Rachel, Jo O’Meara, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee and Bradley McIntosh, had been told not to speak to Hannah due to a rumoured disagreement over her exit from their then upcoming reunion tour.

As Dancing on Ice returns, Hannah will be competing against former boxer Ricky Hatton, Coronation Street's Ryan Thomas, Love Island's Amber Davies, Olympian Greg Rutherford, Made In Chelsea star Miles Nazaire and former EastEnders actor Ricky Norwood. Comedian Lou Sanders, Radio DJ Adele Roberts, soap icon Claire Sweeney and Emmerdale's Roxy Shahidi will also take to the ice while Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards stepped in after Gogglebox's Stephen Lustig-Webb dropped out due to injury.
