If you're looking for a premium multiplatform gaming headset, look no further than the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro.

The Stealth Pro is Turtle Beach's premium wireless gaming headset, offering a vast set of features alongside the ability to use it with every major platform – and even has dual connectivity, making it the only headset you'll ever need. I reviewed the Xbox version of the Stealth Pro but the platform caveat can be ignored because these cans work with PlayStation consoles, PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch and other Bluetooth devices. It's definitely the better buy over the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro PlayStation version which doesn't support either of Microsoft's consoles.

Going over the highlights, you've got two mics to flip between; the built-in, dual concealed mic for when you're wearing these beefy boys out and about; and the detachable boom mic with ANC for when you're in the thick of it online. Not wanting your ears to be naked for a minute longer than they have to, the dual swappable battery of the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro means you can charge one pack while the other powers the headset. And for the ultimate in convenience, a quick 15-minute charge gets you up to three hours of juice.

The 50mm detachable drivers are a delight, bolstered by the ANC, but all of these premium features come a premium price tag. The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro comes in at £279.99 / $329.99 / AU$599 – for both the Xbox and PlayStation versions – pitting it against the Razer Barracuda Pro, but side-by-side, the Stealth Pro is much more versatile.

Turtle Beach Stealth Pro design

Compared to some of the gaming headsets on the market right now, the Stealth Pro is understated, with no RBG to be seen and no vivid colours. Instead it features a black and graphite design that gives off a 'serious kit' vibe, which I'm a big fan of. That being said, there is a bit of RGB on the separate transmitter and charging station, which blinks in various colours depending on the connection status, but that's about it.

The headphones boast high-quality memory foam ear cushions, and the same goes for the headband as well, which makes them comfortable to use even for long periods, despite weighing in at around 400g (without the detachable mic). The Stealth Pro is definitely on the hefty side, with the Razer Barracuda Pro being approximately 60g lighter in comparison, but this adds to the premium feel, and the cushions are good enough that it's not an issue.

Having used the Stealth Pro daily for the last few months, it still looks pretty new, which is a testament to the outstanding build quality on offer, which you would expect at this price point, but isn't always guaranteed.

Turtle Beach Stealth Pro features

The Stealth Pro headset is brimming with premium features. Both the boom mic and dual concealed mic utilise Turtle Beach's S.M.A.R.T. (Sonic Measurement Audio Reduction Tuning) mic, noise-cancelling tech, designed to pick up your voice while leaving out all the background sounds. For those of you worried about shouting the house down in the clutch, there's variable mic monitoring which – along with EQ settings and ANC levels – can be customised in the companion app.

As well as shipping with the incredibly useful set of two batteries (which didn't quite live up to the 12+ hour as-advertised promise) you get two USB-C cables and a carrying pouch in the box. There's a wheel on the left earcup and a button too, which can be reprogrammed to anything you like with the Turtle Beach Audio Hub.

Connecting the Stealth Pro to any device is a refreshingly simple experience, even when connecting to two devices simultaneously – provided one is through 2.4GHz wireless/Xbox Wireless and the other is Bluetooth – making it a compelling option for both gaming and professional use.

Turtle Beach Stealth Pro performance

When you finally get these bad boys connected, you're in for a treat! The 50mm drivers offer superb sound quality, with dialogue sounding clean, footstep coming through clearly, and a superb sound stage overall, which was a nice surprise considering its gaming focus. I found myself donning the Stealth Pro when I was consuming content on YouTube and Twitch too, and the sound quality is seriously impressive.

As an avid Warzone player, I also used Turtle Beach's Advanced Superhuman Hearing feature quite a bit, which when enabled, allows you to hear subtle sounds, like footsteps, reloading weapons and approaching vehicles with even more clarity, which was a real advantage – especially in Warzone, where the audio is inconsistent at best.

The adjustable noise cancellation is also excellent, with the Turtle Beach audio hub letting you slide between ambient and full ANC quickly and easily. Its full ANC mode is the best noise cancellation experience I've had with a gaming headset, and the focus it affords you to getting those all-important eliminations in clutch moments without being distracted by external noise can't be understated. Even when vacuuming (you gotta have a cleaning playlist people!) the sound comes through cleanly, making it an extremely versatile piece of kit.

The detachable boom mic is also impressive, and one of the best I've used, and the concealed mic is more than adequate for phone calls, again, adding to its versatility.

But, for me, the best thing about the Stealth Pro is its dual battery system, because although each battery only gave me about 11 hours of battery life (and over half of that with ANC enabled), it was never an issue, as the next battery was already charged in the transmitter and ready to swap out. You never have to worry about battery life at all, actually, which is very handy indeed.

Overall thoughts on the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro

The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro is the best multiplatform gaming headset I've ever used. Its rich feature set, comfort, and ability to connect to any device – plus the fact you never have to worry about battery life thanks to its dual battery system – makes it a seriously compelling option.

With other gaming headsets on the market, you often have to compromise between platform connectivity, wireless, Bluetooth, comfort, noise cancellation and battery life. But with the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro, you can have it all. That is, if you have the budget.
