Michelle Keegan is reportedly set for a multi-million pound deal after impressing Netflix bosses.

The actress, who shot to fame as Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street, has recently starred in hit Netflix thriller Fool Me Once. The show dropped on the streaming service earlier this month - leaving viewers gripped as 36-year-old Michelle’s character Maya Stern battled to solve a murder mystery.

Fool Me Once also stars Richard Armitage as Michelle’s husband, Joe, and Dame Joanna Lumley as Judith Burkett. The nail-biting thriller is based on American author Harlan Coben's novel of the same name. Its success is said to have set Michelle up for a string of future shows on the streaming giant.

An insider told The Sun : “She’s proved you don’t have to be the stereotypical plum-voiced leading lady to appeal to an international audience. Michelle offers something different, but with all the charm, glamour and sex appeal that makes her one of Britain’s most exciting acting exports."

They added that it is a "no-brainer for Netflix to sign her" and continued: "But they’re likely to have to offer her a six-figure sum to keep her for multiple projects.” The eight-episode first season dropped on Netflix on New Year’s Day - with many fans bingeing the show in one go.

A source has also told Daily Mail: "The response to Fool Me Once has been overwhelming. The phone calls and offers have been coming in from Hollywood film executives, it's different to anything Michelle has experienced before. Netflix is a global platform and the show has given her the opportunity to shine."

The report suggested Michelle wants to play a gritty role - having usually been landed with 'nice' roles over the course of her career so far. The source claims: "She aspires to play a dark character in a hard-hitting thriller, which will be a challenge that she's completely ready for."

Michelle's co-star Emmett J Scanlan appeared on Lorraine last week where he opened up on working with the actress. He said: "Michelle is insanely collaborative, really fun on and off set, beautiful on and off set, hugely talented. She's showing an example of what a leading lady should be or just a leading actor should be. She brought so much positivity! I can't speak highly enough of her!"

Many fans have begun to question if a second season of the show will be filmed. However, reports have emerged stating that the series is merely a mini-series and won’t return with more episodes. Netflix itself has noted that the show is a limited series, stating: "The series has eight episodes." While Harlan Coben told the streamer: "Fool Me Once is a pulse-pounder — a shocking story of how secrets and deceit have the power to bring people together while simultaneously tearing them apart."
