A body has been found in the search for a 65-year-old woman who went missing over a week ago, police have confirmed.

Kim Wilde vanished from her home in Kimms Belt, Thetford, Norfolk, at 4.20pm on Friday, January 5. Norfolk Police said they had become "increasingly concerned" for her welfare.

This afternoon, the police force said a body has been found in the Little Ouse River just south of Thetford Power Station. While formal identification has not been carried out yet, they said Ms Wilde's family has been informed.

The death is not believed to be suspicious, officers said, and a file will be prepared for the coroner. Norfolk Police said in a statement: "Police can confirm the body of a woman has been found in the water near Thetford.

"The discovery was made at around 10.30am on Saturday 13 January 2024 in the Little Ouse River just south of Thetford Power Station. Emergency services attended the scene including police, fire, and ambulance.

"While the body has yet to be formally identified, the family of Kim Wilde who has been missing since 4.20pm on Friday 5 January 2024 has been informed. Inquiries are ongoing but the death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

In their initial appeal, Norfolk Police said: "Police are appealing for help to trace a 65-year-old woman who has been reported missing. Kim Wilde, 65, was last seen leaving her home in Kimms Belt, Thetford at 4.20pm on Friday 5 January 2024 and officers are increasingly concerned for her welfare.

"She is described as 5ft 3 tall, white, of proportionate build, with dark brown short hair and was possibly wearing a grey jacket with hood, dark grey leggings and carrying a white handbag when she left. Kim walks very slowly and can appear frail. Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen Kim."
