Naga Munchetty confirms BBC future live on air after being targeted by scammers
BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty clarified her TV future live on air on Saturday morning.
The announcement came after Naga revealed she'd been targeted by scammers, who had made her look like she was seeking another role.
The popular early morning TV anchor has been spreading her wings recently, including hosting topical news quiz, Have I Got News For You, but she has squashed rumours, spread by scammers, that she would be quitting the BBC breakfast show. The 48-year-old decided to make it clear where her future lies during Saturday's live episode.
Naga usually hosts the breakfast show from Thursday to Sunday, usually with her long-term co-host Charlie Stayt, 61, with Naga joining the show in 2014 after four years with the BBC. The pair were discussing false job adverts when Naga took the opportunity to clarify her own position.
Speaking about the adverts, the BBC Breakfast host admitted: "I have had them, and block." She then continued to say: "You're [the scammers] completely confused because I'm not in the market looking for another job at the moment in time." This will be good news for her fans, who have also celebrated that a new series of Claimed and Shamed will be coming to our screens. This series follows insurance companies and police units across the UK who look to expose the outrageous insurance cheats.
Naga Munchetty and co-stars bid farewell to BBC Breakfast colleague amid exitThis came after Naga recently took aim at Charlie and stated that he could have a new career in used car sales. While flicking through that day's newspapers, Charlie was drawn to a story about a sports car. He said: "So, used car news is what I have got for you. It is a car that has just come on the market which has on the plus side, it has only got 255 miles on the clock. It is three years old so it is barely used and it is a good buy for someone, it has only had one owner."
Naga joked: "I never thought of you as a used car salesman but I am seeing it now." It was not something that Charlie thought would work as he admitted he was unsure about one of the major details, asking: "Well it is working so far but there is a clanger coming up. This isn't going to work as a used car thing, it is a Bugatti supersport 300+, why is it called 300+ you ask? Someone ask the question."
Trying to sort out Charlie's confusion, Naga said: "Well it is the only car on the road that can do 300 miles an hour and it is going to auction, and they reckon it is going to be £4.3 million."
