An urban explorer has revealed his eerie experience after he adventured through the remnants of an abandoned monastery – and says he was in the presence of "ghosts".

Dave Cole, from Ontario, Canada and known online as Freaktography, was left terrified after his most recent discovery after he felt a paranormal presence in the building after sunset. And, after struggling to navigate the labyrinth-like corridors, he claimed he "wasn't alone" in the haunted building.

Speaking of the frightful experience, Dave told NeedToKnow that he was subjected to a "rollercoaster of emotions". he explained: "The architecture was stunning, even in its state of disrepair, and you couldn’t help but imagine the lives that once thrived within these walls. But as the sun dipped below the horizon, the atmosphere changed.

"Mysterious footsteps echoed through the corridors, and shadows danced on the walls, seemingly with a life of their own. I knew we weren’t the only ones here, and it sent shivers down my spine."

Walking through the maze of hallways, Dave discovered many empty rooms, smashed windows and empty mattresses after the building had been stripped of everything of value. However, one wall - scarily located in darkness - was graffitied with the chilling words "free me". he also discovered a set of steps leading to nowhere.

Speaking about the the video of his adventure, which he shared to his 88,100 YouTube followers, he added: He added: "The heart-pounding moments just kept coming. Unexplained phenomena seemed to surround us at every turn. Our camera equipment malfunctioned inexplicably, and cold spots appeared out of nowhere. It was a night that reminded us why we’re so passionate about exploring abandoned places."

After sharing his exploration online people were quick to comment and, despite the camera malfunction, couldn't get enough of the old monastery. YouTube user Cole said of the video: "These monasteries are big but so so creepy. The cities should start fixing and cleaning this place up and use it as a homeless shelter.

"Looks like it could hold slot of people. Oh my gosh this place is absolutely huge.Just imagine how many homeless people this place could shelter, instead of sitting empty like it is." Meanwhile, Jonas added: "Nice building shame the vandals got their hands on it."

Another user, Steve, said: "That was a beautiful place at one time! Love your videos as usual. Your a great man!", while Charlie concurred with "Great explore". However, some felt underwhelmed by the footage, with Jerrold commenting: "I was a little disappointed the inside was so modern i was hoping for a lot of wood work and old decor."
