The previous record for a penthouse sale in Dubai dates back just a few months when an apartment on the top floor of the Marsa Al Arab Hotel sold for £90million. It also comes after it was reported this week that Cristiano Ronaldo splashed out on a new mega-mansion in a place dubbed 'Billionaire's Island' in Dubai.

The Al-Nassr captain earns £175million per year in his contract with the Saudi Pro League title challengers. Ronaldo enjoyed a brilliant 2023, finishing the year as the top goalscorer in world football, despite not winning any silverware.

He already boasts a large property portfolio across multiple countries, though mainly bases himself in Dubai. The Portuguese superstar has now added to his list of homes by making a purchase worth tens of millions of pounds. According to Bloomberg Linea, Ronaldo has purchased a mansion on Jumeirah Bay Island, which has earned the nickname Billionaire's Island. It is a secluded enclave in Dubai that is home to the super-rich.
