This is the terrifying moment fire shoots from a Boeing jet carrying 122 people after a bird flew into its engine.

As the T'way Air flight 216 came into land at the Incheon International Airport in South Korea at around 9.30pm on Wednesday evening this week, it ran into some unexpected trouble. A bird flew into the starboard engine, seemingly getting caught in it and leading to the alarming scenes.

One passenger filmed a video onboard showing flames spluttering and erupting from the engine even as the pilot was able to make an emergency landing. As they fought to control the Boeing 737-800 plane, flames burst from the engine and almost down to the plane's tail.

Other footage from the ground captured the burning plane soaring down through the sky, towards the airport. It had taken off from the Narita International Airport in Tokyo, Japan. Local broadcasters said that passengers on board could smell burning, and the Boeing was forced to abort its first landing attempt, and carry out another.

Thankfully, no one was injured and the airline is now set to inspect their planes. Japanese news site TBS News Dig reported that one passenger said: "My hands were shaking and my family couldn't even speak a single word, so I was really scared. I don't think I'll ever be able to fly again."

This comes on the back of a separate incident involving a Boeing 737. On the left side of an Alaska Airlines jet, following take off, a door tore off the left side of the plane, leaving a gaping hole in the side of the plane.

The flight had been taking off from Portland, Oregon, and was heading towards California when the nightmare scenes unfolded. Thankfully, all 171 passengers and six crew members landed alive, although several passengers suffered injuries.

However the horror scenes, where passengers were forced to cling onto themselves and belongings as they aborted their journey and carried out an emergency landing shocked many.
