Woman, 85, dies after being hit by bus outside Tesco as cops plead for witnesses

An 85-year-old woman has tragically died after being hit by a bus outside a Tesco supermarket in East London.

The victim was hit near the Tesco store in Morning Lane, Hackney, just after 5pm on January 5. Metropolitan Police officers and the London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene and took the woman to the hospital, where she died on January 8.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: "Police were called shortly before 5:10pm on Thursday, January 4 to reports of a bus in collision with a pedestrian near the Tesco store in Morning Lane, Hackney. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and an 85-year-old woman was taken to an East London hospital.

"Sadly, she died there on Monday, January 8. Her next of kin have been informed." The Met Police are appealing for any witnesses following the elderly woman's death. Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit ask anyone who may have captured the collision on dash cam or other media devices, or witnessed it, to contact the witness appeal line on 020 8597 4874.
