Mean Girls star Reneé Rapp has been seen stumbling into the street clutching a bottle of champagne after a TV appearance.

The actress was seen exiting a TV studio in New York after recording The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she stumbled and hit the pavement. Clutching a bottle of Veuve Cliquot in her hand, the actress impressively didn't spill a drop. The Sex Lives of College Girls star was then helped to her feet before getting into a waiting car.

Renée wore a burgundy-toned zip-up leather jacket with a matching skirt and coordinated high--heeled boots, with her blonde hair swept back into an updo. She wore a pair of sunglasses and accessorised with her expensive champagne.

The street tumble comes after the star celebrated the Mean Girls film remake, where Rapp plays main character Regina George which she has also played on Broadway. She has taken over the role from actress Rachel McAdams, who played it in the original film in 2004.

The new film also stars Mare of Easttown actress Angourie Rice as Cady, Moana star Auli'i Cravalho as Janis, Jaquel Spivey as Damian, Anantika as Karen and The New Normal actress Bebe Wood as Gretchen. It also stars Christopher Briney and Busy Philipps, whilst comic Tina Fey reprises her role as Ms Norbury. The film will be released in the UK on Friday 19 January.

The new film, which is also a musical adaptation based off the successful Broadway version, has divided critics with some saying it doesn't compare to the 2004 original. Entertainment Weekly said "life with the Plastics, pretty darn fantastic", but the Hollywood Reporter described the film as a "tuneless mess". Some have also called out the fact the new film is a musical and based off the Broadway show, which the trailer hasn't made clear. Others also picked up on jokes from the original being changed or updated, erasing some of the 2004's most memorable lines.

Screenwriter Tina Fey, who starred in the original movie, has hit back as she told the New York Times: "It's come to no-one's surprise that jokes have changed. You don't poke in the way that you used to poke. Even if your intention was always the same, it's just not how you do it any more, which is fine. I very much believe that you can find new ways to do jokes with less accidental shrapnel sideways."
