A 22-year-old baker expressed her amazement at crafting a birthday cake for Hollywood superstar George Clooney. Holly Tait received an order from Clooney's assistant for a cake to celebrate his 61st birthday, upon which she was given the freedom to design it herself. The following day, she was thrilled to get feedback that the cake tasted "delicious".

Two years after keeping quiet about who her high-profile customer was, Holly finally disclosed that the order had been for Clooney himself. Operating Project Cakery near Cirencester, Gloucestershire, Holly had been tasked in May 2022 with creating three large cakes, enough for 200 servings.

At the time, Clooney had been directing The Boys in the Boat in the UK, a film centred around the American rowing team's victory at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Due to the cake featuring a specific emblem related to the film, Holly could only recently highlight her work.

The scheduled cinema release of the movie is this Monday. Specialising in 'bespoke, stunning wedding and celebration cakes with GF and VG options', Holly's business has attracted a wide range of clientele. As she noted: "I got a note from George's PA - it was very subtle - which said they were filming in the area and it was their director's birthday, it just needs to say 'Happy Birthday George' and should follow the theme of water and boating."

"It was short notice and a lot of pressure because I already had three weddings that weekend - I shouldn't really have said yes and I didn't even know it was for George Clooney - but I worked extra hard to make it happen." said Holly, who customises every bakery order to suit her customers' needs.

She had to create three 10inch cakes enough to feed 200 people on set. The young entrepreneur has been running her business making wedding and celebration cakes since she was 18.

Holly revealed: "I was told not to say anything until the movie came out. "From my point of view it was just another cake order - but it was picked up in a private taxi! It was a Victoria sponge, nothing fancy just a crowd pleaser."
