Activision has confirmed the Warzone Season 1 Reloaded start date, as well as some of the new content players can enjoy when the update drops.

The third iteration of Warzone, Call of Duty's long-running battle royale title, finally launched alongside the release of MW3 in December, with MW3 Season 1 re-launching the multiplayer game complete with a gameplay overhaul, that has been much-welcomed by players. And now it's time for the title's first major content update, with the Warzone Season 1 Reloaded release date now confirmed for mid-January, and Activision also confirming some of the new content that's on the way.

Here's the confirmed Warzone Season 1 Reloaded start date, and a round-up of all the new content that's been announced for the new season.

Warzone Season 1 Reloaded start date confirmed

Activision has confirmed via a blog post that the Warzone Season 1 Reloaded start date will be Wednesday, January 17 at 5pm GMT / 12pm EST / 9am PST. This means that players don't have to wait too much longer until the big new mid-season content drop arrives. All three Modern Warfare 3 modes – Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone – will receive new ways to play, including a fresh crossover with Amazon Prime's The Boys TV series.

Warzone Season 1 Reloaded: new content

Champion's Quest is set to make its debut in the Urzikstan map, granting squads the chance to "instigate a devastating end game" either by winning five matches in a row or winning 30 games within the current season. Those who took on the Champion's Quest and tried to get a nuke during its previous appearances back on Al Mazrah and Vondel already know they'll be put through the wringer.

A new Weapon Case objective is also coming to the battle royale, marking anyone who picks it up for the remainder of the match. So is a Gulag Public Event focused on playing with the lights out, whereby squads will be challenged to duke it out using night vision only.

Quite controversially, though, a new way to end matches dubbed 'Covert Exfil' is also being introduced, letting players call in a helicopter which will fly them out of the match once they earn, or purchase, the ability to do so. It won't count as a win though, with developer Raven Software confirming in a Twitter post that Covert Exfils 'wins' will be documented in a separate leaderboard.

Finally, Warzone Season 1 Reloaded sees more operators from the world of The Boys arrive, this time in the form of fast-runner A-Train and Firecracker - a new hero set to appear in the show's upcoming season. Both follow in the footsteps of Homelander, Black Noir, and Starlight, who were added as part of Modern Warfare 2's Season 4 Reloaded last year.
