X Factor's Myles Stephenson's sweet tribute to son after surprise career move

X Factor winner Myles Stephenson has paid a sweet tribute to his son after revealing the youngster has cerebral palsy.

The 32-year-old shot to fame as part of R&B band Rak-Su, the first boy band to win the talent show in back 2017. He has since gone on to appear on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! These days he is gearing up for his first fight next weekend after making a surprise career move into boxing.

Posting a video to Instagram with adorable son Shiloh in the background, Myles told his 516,000 followers about the sweet reason he was getting in the ring. He shared: “Hi guys, as some of you may or may not know, I am fighting on Misfits 12 next Saturday at Leeds Arena. I just wanted to share with you before all the other promo gets a bit comical, I wanted to share a serious moment with you as to why.

“For any new followers, this is the reason why I’m fighting on Misfits. My son Shiloh is here and my beautiful baby boy has cerebral palsy. He’s had it from birth, he had a stroke either during birth or just after birth, resulting in CP. This means his right side doesn’t work as normal as it should do. One of the reasons I wanted to fight on Misfits and do this video is because I’ve been working with a non-profit organisation called Breathe, who run intensive physiotherapy sessions for children with hemiplegia [paralysis on one side of the body].”

Myles continued: “But the main reason I wanted to be on Misfits is because of this guy next to me. To be able to do and be able to show him something when he’s a little bit older of something that I didn’t know how to do, and I had to learn and I had to take seriously. I had to learn a whole new trade. I’m not saying that is anywhere near as hard as what he is going to have go through when he’s older, and what he’s going through now, but just to show him that anything is possible and that I’m going to be right by his side every step of the way.”

Turning to Shiloh, who will turn three later this year, Myles added: “So, little man, when you’re watching this when you’re older, I want you to know that I am doing it all for you, and we’re going to get through everything.” In a cute moment Shiloh yelled: “Yeah!” at his dad before he pair fist bump as Myles called them “best friends”.

He ended the post by saying: “If you haven’t already, please do check out Breathe. And for anybody with kids or themselves that is suffering from CP or hemiplegia, please do reach out to Breathe. They are an amazing non-profit organisation and they have done, and they do, miraculous things. It’s truly amazing what they do, so please do check them out and I will see you all next Saturday.”
