Richard Madeley and his wife Judy Finnigan looked relaxed as they walked arm in arm after a lunch date at a pub in Hampstead on Wednesday.

The couple, who recently celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary, were seen heading towards their car after walking out of the Spaniards Inn pub. Good Morning Britain presenter Richard, 67, cut a casual figure in a grey jacket over a plain white t-shirt and simple blue jeans.

His wife Judy looked stylish in a cosy black fur coat which she paired with black trousers and a navy top. She completed the outfit with a bright red handbag. The famous couple linked arms as they seemed deep in conversation after a lovely afternoon out of the house. Richard and Judy, who share children Jack, 37, and Chloe, 36, celebrated their wedding anniversary in November.

The GMB star announced the huge milestone while presenting with Susanna Reid. He revealed the pair had been living together a total of 40 years. "I can't believe it actually... because it seems about 15 years but yeah it's my 37th wedding anniversary!" the star told viewers.

Susanna responded: "Wow, congratulations Richard and Judy!" Richard continued: "Actually because we were together a few years before that, it's actually sort of 40 years of being under the same roof, which is just ridiculous!" Susanna joked: "Long service medals all round... or just for Judy!"

Richard and Judy presented This Morning from 1988 until 2001 before they hosted their own show, Richard & Judy until 2009. They first met in 1982 when Richard joined Granada to present alongside Tony Wilson and Judy, who at eight years his senior was the more experienced journalist.

"I remember the first time I saw him. He walked into the newsroom and I was sitting at my desk at the other end," Judy recalled of their fateful first meeting. I remember exactly what he was wearing: a pale blue linen suit. I thought he looked nice. Tall, handsome, and all that, but I thought the suit was a bit flashy. Then, because he was a newbie, I was assigned the job of looking after him," she told the Mirror.

Their very first exchange has become the stuff of legends. “I was sitting at my desk when this hand appeared on my shoulder and I looked up at this face and Judy said, 'Hi, I'm your Mummy' and I thought 'Whaaaaat?'" revealed Richard, who already had a crush on Judy after watching her on TV.

Explaining the joke, he continued, "At Granada when someone new arrived, someone was appointed as their dad or their mum to show them round – the canteen, the toilets and all that. So Judy was my 'mum'."
