Corrie's Sally Dynevor's sweet post to daughter Phoebe as she scores BAFTA nom

Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor has paid a sweet tribute to her daughter Phoebe Dynevor after she was nominated for a BAFTA Award.

The 60-year-old actress, who has played Sally Metcalfe in the ITV soap for almost 40 years, took to Instagram to reveal she was “so proud” of her eldest daughter who shot to global fame in the first season of Netflix series Bridgerton.

Encouraging fans to vote for 28-year-old Phoebe, Sally wrote: “So proud of you @phoebedynevor. Please go and vote here!” Another snap showed Phoebe posing in front of a huge BAFTA award at a special ceremony to announce this year’s nominations.

Phoebe has been nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award for her role in erotic psychological thriller movie Fair Play, which has been dubbed the "new Fifty Shades of Grey". She is up against Euphoria and Saltburn star Jacob Elordi, The Bear actress Ayo Edebiri, How To Have Sex film star Mia McKenna-Bruce and star of Netflix series Everything Now, Sophie Wilde. The Rising Star award is the only BAFTA that is voted for by members of the public.

Previous winners include Tom Hardy, James McAvoy, Tom Holland, Shia LeBeouf, Kirsten Stewart, Juno Temple, Lashana Lynch, and last year’s winner, Sex Education star Emma Mackey.

Speaking about her nomination, Phoebe wrote on Instagram that she was “thrilled to finally share this news" adding: "Thank you @bafta.” She told Sky News that being in the running for the prestigious award “means the world" and admitted: “With social media, there’s a very curated kind of idea of what it means to be an actress. And actually, it’s a lot of rejection and a lot of getting back on the horse. Days like today make it feel really worth it.”

Revealing she “practically begged” Fair Play director Chloe Domont for the role, Phoebe added: “I read the script and it was a female director, it’s a female story and it’s the kind of role that I dreamed about doing when I was a kid. So to be recognised for this film in particular is very gratifying.” The winners will be announced on Sunday February 18 at a ceremony at London’s Royal Festival Hall and broadcast on BBC1 and BBC iPlayer.

And Phoebe and mum Sally aren’t the only actors in the Dynevor family. Younger sister Hattie recently joined the cast of BBC school drama Waterloo Road and the 20-year-old is also signed to two modelling agencies. It’s the same show that launched big sister Phoebe’s career 15 years ago when she played student Siobhan Mailey. While Sally's husband Tim, who she married in 1995, started out as an actor before moving into script writing. He has since penned episodes of Emmerdale and 2021 miniseries The Drowning, starring Jill Halfpenny. The couple also share 26-year-old son Samuel, who is not thought to be involved in the industry.
