Fred Sirieix baffled as Channel 4 removes First Dates from streaming site

First Dates star Fred Sirieix and viewers were left puzzled after its latest episodes were swapped for re-runs due to an unexpected glitch..

Unfortunately, those who attempted to tune in to see romantic interactions between the latest contestants who had signed up for the matchmaking show, were left with past episodes. And this prompted an eruption of social media comments, as fans were left scratching their heads as they could not understand what had happened.

But it wasn't just the TV channel that had failed to air current episodes, so too had the option to steam episodes from the 21st series on the broadcaster's streaming site, leaving the public in a panic.

A Channel 4 spokesperson attempted to quell outrage by assuring fans that the dating show would resume its regular broadcast slot next Tuesday at 10 pm. However, the statement did not address the question as to when the missing episodes will return.

Taking to Twitter, Fred Sirieix, who is a star on the show and has recently returned from the I'm A Celebrity jungle, wrote: "No idea what happened tonight with #FirstDates episode and when it will be aired. Clearly a glitch somewhere. Sorry. As soon as I hear, I will let you know x," he tweeted, echoing the collective sentiment of fans left in the dark."

But this did little to quiet fans. One person said: "When you wait all day for a new #FirstDates ep in the new restaurant and it's canceled seconds before 10 pm, why do we want to see a repeat, thought Channel 4 was canceling shows to make new ones!"

Even though First Dates made a name for Fred, the French restaurateur's career has gone from strength to strength. And this has seen him join last year's I'm A Celebrity line-up - on which he certainly caused a stir. One of his headline moments was his clash with fellow campmate Nella Rose following a discussion of age where he mentioned the fact that he was old enough to be her father.

This led to Nella feeling as though he had made the remark to be insensitive and disrespectful as she said he knew her father had passed away a few years prior. Back in November last year, Fred's partner, Fruitcake, re-posted an Instagram Story upload from the First Dates star's official Instagram page, which read: "Tough watch for some of the show tonight but Fred did us so proud – we know his intention would never be to upset anyone. Keep your head up Fred – we love you".

At the time, Nella discussed her hurt feelings as she told the Bush Telegraph: "Last night after dinner Fred made a comment about him basically how he could be my dad. I took offence to that because one of the first conversations we had together was me opening up about the fact that my dad’s passed away. I didn’t say anything about it last night because I was kind of just annoyed about it."

She added: "So I slept on it and I kind of thought about it and I was just like, this is not the kind of person I want to be around." Later in the show, the YouTube star was seen ignoring Fred when he called her, before she said: "Can you leave me alone?" Fred replied: "OK." But he went on to ask: "What have I done to you?" And Nella then explained: "You know that my mum’s dead, and you know that my dad’s dead."

She continued: "You know that, right? I’ve come to find out that every time I wanna get creative around the fire, or I want to have something my way, my own food that I am entitled to, my way, you tend to get an attitude, right? So yesterday, when I wanted to burn fat that you were going to throw away anyways, it’s not even something that we needed to survive in camp, you turned around to me, with an attitude and said, ‘You know I could be your dad, right?’. To me, I don’t care how you said it to me, it’s disrespectful and I don’t want to talk to you. I don’t want to be around you. I only allow people to disrespect me once. You hurt my feelings."

She then said: "I was very upset… you keep trying to speak to me when I don’t want to speak to you. I would rather stay away from you, I don’t want to eat your food, I don’t want to talk to you. We can just live, you live on that side, I live on this side." She then called him a "weirdo" for "bringing up her dead dad".
