Katie Price's ex Carl Woods sparks concern with update about 'mental decline'

Carl Woods has sparked alarm among his fans after a social media post claimed he was battling mental health issues.

The 34-year-old one time Love Island contestant is best known for being the on-off fiancé of 45-year-old former glamour model Katie Price. The couple seemed to split for good at the end of 2023, and in recent days Carl has been sharing photos with fans online from a holiday in Thailand.

But on Wednesday, fans were startled by an update on his Instagram account that claimed a friend would be running the account while Carl took time out of the spotlight to focus on his own health. A written notice declared that it was a friend from many years ago that had been left to run his social media account.

The notice was posted with light orange writing again a black backdrop. The statement reads: “Carl’s Instagram is now in good hands, it is now NO longer in his hands due to his decline in mental health. It is under the control of a true friend from years ago. Please understand in this difficult time. Thank you.”

Fans and followers reacted in shock and expressed concern for the former reality star. One follower, who noted Carl had seemed happy in the sun on holiday, remarked: “Just because he’s on holiday and has been seen smiling it doesn’t mean he’s not struggling with his mental health, we show what we want people to see.”

Others expressed concern over who was actually running his Instagram account, with one commenting: “How do we know his page hasn’t been took over by someone else who’s just posting this and that about him.” However, others were glad to hear Carl had support around him.

One thankful fan noted: “Whoever you’s re looking after his account.. Thank you for being a true friend you restored some faith in humanity… keep being you and hopefully Carl will pick up soon.. rooting for you.” And another wrote: “looking after your friends social media is a brave thing to do especially with all the negative press surrounding his previous relationship, wishing him a speedy recovery.”

While another concerned fan wrote: "I hope Carl is OK." The update came just hours after Carl had shared a strange message via his Instagram Stories. He had written a blunt message, stating: “I’m a dad type, not a party animal. We’re all different.” The previous day he had shared a snap of himself looking happy in a nightclub. The image showed him flashing a smile while wearing sunglasses and a loose fitting t-shirt.

Carl and Katie’s romance came to an end towards the end of 2023 - with the glamour model lashing out at her latest failed relationship in a podcast. She said: “So I haven't really been in a good situation, so for me to get married again, they have to tick the right boxes, or they have to have more to lose than me because I'm just sick of these cling-ons that turn into Mr Price's and then want to be famous and all of this.

"I'm just sick of it, I just want to meet someone who wants me for me. But yeah I would get married, shall we organise it, of course I would bloody get married again, I want a fairytale. Yes, I would get married again and I want the full shebang. I just want it to be right, I never wanted to get divorced and marry again and again.”
