Coronation Street star Todd Boyce, who played murderous villain Stephen Reid, is set to wreak havoc once again but this time for the stage production of a psychological thriller titled Sleuth.

Todd, 62, had left Coronation Street fans gripped to their TV screens during his murderous reign in the ITV soap as he set about on a killing spree and tried to deceive Carla out of her fortune of Underworld.

But now, after being killed off in October last year, Todd has embarked on a new project alongside EastEnders star Neil McDermott, who played Ryan Malloy in the BBC soap.

Posting a picture of the pair together on Instagram, Todd held up the script of the production as they prepared to take to the stage. Sleuth takes the audience on a journey that looks at the combination of human conflict and manipulation as audience members attempt to guess who the culprit is.

The former ITV actor captioned his post saying: "Sleuth! First day at school – but have a new mate who’s really cool." And it took no time for fans to comment. One person wrote: "Have a ball, Todd. Enjoy the run!!! Chookas to see you and the cast and crew. X” Another person said: "This is outstanding.”

A third person commented: "Can’t wait to welcome you both to Torquay in 6 weeks!." Todd first joined the show in 1996 for a year. He then reprised his role as Audrey Roberts' illegitimate son in 2007 but left again for 15 years. In 2022, Todd's character Stephen made a return for the third time but this time, he set about on a killing spree - with one agenda in mind - to flee the country with millions of pounds in the bank.

But alas, his attempt was foiled by Peter Barlow who run him over in his car outside the Rovers Return pub. Stephen's first victim was Leo, played by Joe Frost and then came along Teddy Thompkins, played by Grant Burgin. His third victim was his business associate Rufus Donahue, played by Steve Meo.

Meanwhile, Neil first appeared in Albert Square in 2003 as Whitney Dean's brother. After a series of returns, Ryan returned to Walford early last year after learning that his school aged daughter Lily Slater, who he shares with Stacey Slater, was pregnant with her first child.

Ryan attempted to persuade Lily to move to Wakefield with him but after Lily overheard Ryan insulting Stacey, she opted to stay in Walford with her mum and have her baby. Both Todd and Neil have gone on to star in theatre productions and Pantomimes during the Christmas period.

Neil, 43, told fans at the time of appearing in Sleeping Beauty, that it was "extra special" to star on stage as it was the first time his daughter had seen him on stage. Todd made his panto debut in Derby Arena’s stage production of Mother Goose. And once again, he played the villain Vanity in the production.
