Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane laughs off jokes about marriage to Aisha Tamba
Sadio Mane saw the funny side as Senegal president Macky Sall joked about his recent marriage to Aisha Tamba.
The former Liverpool star married his partner in a ceremony in his homeland last week. The wedding is understood to have taken place on January 7 in Keur Massar, an area in the capital city of Dakar. It is not known how long Mane and his partner have been dating.
His marriage comes just days before Senegal look to defend their Africa Cup of Nations title. They overcame Egypt in the last tournament and will attempt to retain their crown in the Ivory Coast, who host the 2024 edition. The whole of the Senegalese squad were hosted by the country's president.
Sall was keen to pay tribute to Mane's marriage at a traditional flag handover ceremony before the team jet off. He said: "First of all, I would like to warmly congratulate Sadio Mane, who has just got married. I called him up so that we could applaud him and wish him a happy marriage. May God bless your home and your descendants. From now on you have another job apart from scoring goals."
According to the Daily Mail, Mane was seen laughing in response to the joke alongside his team-mates - and covered his face with his hands. The pair's wedding is reported to have been attended by family and friends, as well as fellow footballers. Photos from the ceremony were posted Instagram by photography company @Magvision_Evens_Officiel.

They showed the Al-Nassr forward and his new wife holding hands and posing after tying the knot, with one image displaying them sat on a display of roses and the words 'Mrs Mane' imprinted on the wall behind them. A video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, by user @abdullahayofel showed the couple smiling and laughing.
It was captioned: "A very simple and humble man, congratulations Sadio Mane. May Allah bless your union." Mane was seen wearing traditional Senegalese dress in the pictures, while Aisha's outfit was a mermaid-style laced dress with long sleeves.

He remains his country's talisman and is seeking to continue to impressive recent international exploits. After helping Senegal win AFCON Mane then aided their efforts to make the World Cup as they saw off Egypt to make the tournament in Qatar. He's now eyeing more continental glory.
