Shirley Ballas explains why she 'won't get married again' after ending wedding
Shirley Ballas revealed why 'she won't be getting married again' after cancelling her wedding to fiancé Danny Taylor.
The dance judge, 63, and her younger beau, 53, have been dating since 2019 after they both met while performing in a pantomime production of Jack and the Beanstalk. They immediately hit it off the pair soon began regularly seeing each other despite their busy schedules. Danny works as an actor while Shirley is a head judge at the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
Shirley has been married twice, her first marriage to ballroom dancer Sammy Stopford lasted for four years, from 1980 to 1984. She later wed Corky Ballas just a year later, however the pair split in 2007. Last year, she revealed she was postponing her wedding as she wanted to focus on travelling and spending time with loved ones.
And now, Shirley explained why she won't be getting married. She said: "Two marriages, an engagement, two long-term relationships later and I will not be getting married again. I’ve made the decision."

She said: "I've changed my mind. I just feel that at this particular point in my life, my mother and I have got this great relationship and we want to do some travelling and there are different things we want to do.
'I'm spending £20k on a new bathroom - but won't help my brother out with cash'
"[The relationship is] going good – I’m busy, he’s busy and we talk to each other every day – several times a day, and my mum talks to him as well," she added, referring to their long-distance romance. Shirley and Danny got engaged in 2021 when Danny surprised her with a diamond ring.
Shirley had previously opened up about the importance of communication for her and Danny during a chat with the Mirror. She said at the time: "I don't think I do too well on the relationship side. Danny and I are always busy. But, we have respect, we have trust, and we have FaceTime so we're constantly talking to each other. I trust him, he trusts me. He's too busy, I'm too busy."
Back in August, Shirley and Danny's romance was rocked by split rumours - but the Strictly judge quickly put the reports to bed, saying online: "Danny, we're still together after four and a half years. That's miraculous. He has a very busy schedule and I have a very busy schedule.
"He's in the North and I'm in the South, but somehow we do try to make it work, so that's good. What I like most about Danny is he has a heart of gold and he puts up with my lifestyle. I am like the Tasmanian devil and I'm all over the place."
