A mum has spoken of her horror after losing four sons who were killed after a roof collapsed on their bedroom in Argentina.

Santino Hardoy, 10, Lorenzo del Rio, six, and four-year-old twins Benicio and Noah Nisi, all died at their home in El Jaguel, a province of Buenos Aires on January 9.

The roof collapsed after five tonnes of rubble was deposited on it during building works to expand the house, according to reports.

Mum Pamela Nisi, 37, said: "My four children have died, I feel like I'm dying. I don't want to live anymore.

"My twins Benicio and Noah, and Lolo and Santino all went to heaven. They left me, mummy's angels. Tell me it's all just a nightmare. For God's sake, my children, no!"

She added: "Who can take this pain away from me? I can't take it anymore. Why is life so unfair to me? I miss you my Lolo, my Santi and my babies."

Ms Nisi's 51-year-old boyfriend, Catalino Daniel Lopez, who was carrying out DIY work, has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

A few hours before the tragedy, Lopez had cleared a patio and put the rubble on the roof with the weight thought to have caused the collapse, reported Clarin.

The family only moved into Lopez's house, which was believed to be old and in a poor condition, two weeks beforehand.

Ms Nisi was with a fifth brother, Valentine Benitez, 15, outside the bedroom and heard a noise before the roof came crashing down.

The mother, who had six children with four different partners, had only met Lopez recently, it was reported.

Santino's father Pablo Ezequiel told local media: "On Sunday, they put rubble on the roof and we believe that's why the structure gave way.

"They wanted to clear the patio and instead of putting it on the street, they put it on the roof. That weight - we think - made it collapse."

Meanwhile, family members and neighbours launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the victims' funeral expenses.

The municipality of Esteban Echeverría told Clarin that "experts were working to evaluate the collateral risks" involved in the accident and that "the rubble was removed by workers so that specialists could put together a report for the prosecution."
