Stranger Things fans are filled with bittersweet excitement as the original cast reunites once again to officially begin production for the last and final season of the series.

In celebration of the milestone, Netflix teased season 5 with a never-before-seen snap of the reunited cast as they started filming this week. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the new season as viewers were left on a cliffhanger at the end of season four when Murray and Hopper heroically defeated a gang of deadly demogorgons in the Upside Down universe giving the gang of friends back in a chance to save the small town of Hawkins from evil.

Production for the new series was briefly halted due to the writer's strike, but everything is now back on track with the new series expected to be released in 2025. On Monday evening, Netflix took to Instagram posting the all-new black-and-white season five group photo with the caption: "THIS IS A CODE RED STRANGER THINGS 5 production has officially begun!!!"

Little has been revealed about the new season of the sci-fi horror series, but Netflix did release the starting lines of the Season 5 script revealing that the first episode of the series will be titled Chapter One: The Crawl. Executive producer Shawn Levy has assured fans that the new season will be worth the long wait as they have high hopes for the closing chapter of Hawkins.

In an interview with E! News in September of 2022, Shawn told the news outlet: "Our ambitions remain pretty high," and added: "The way the audience has grown along with the cinematic scope of the show, I don't expect that we're going to mess with that approach going into season five."
