James Morrison is said to have cancelled all his work commitments following his wife's tragic death.

The singer-songwriter has been left devastated after his long-term partner Gill Catchpole was found dead at their family home on Friday aged 45. James, 39, and Gill share two daughters, Elsie, 15, and Ada, five. The musician is being comforted by his friends and family and a source close to the family confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances.

The source said: "Gill was found dead on Friday at the family's home in Whitminster. James is devastated and is being supported by his family. He is holding it together for their girls but has asked for the family to be left alone to grieve in private." Just last week the You Give Me Something hitmaker teased he was recording new music.

Posting on his social media, James shared a picture of himself sitting in a recording studio while playing a guitar. A computer monitor could be seen in the background showing tracks being laid down. He captioned the Instagram post: "New year, new adventure…" It appeared James was teasing new music would be on the way in 2024.

However, a source has since told The Sun that James has shelved his work commitments and is focusing on his two daughters. James and Gill married in 2006 and the singer-songwriter admitted he fell in love at first sight.

James has previously opened up on the unusual way he first met Gill after she moved into his mother's house as a lodger - with her then-boyfriend. The singer explained on the White Wine Question Time podcast: "It wasn't the easiest start, but I just still see it as a really romantic thing. I'm not very romantic. I'm not like: 'I love romance!' But I do find certain things romantic and the fact that we met each other the way we did. It's like a little fairy tale or something!"

They bonded over their love of music and James would "serenade" her in the corridor hoping that she'd hear him. Speaking in a 2019 interview with the Mirror, the star revealed doctors feared Gill could lose her life during the birth of their youngest daughter Ada. She was born 13 weeks early and Gill had an emergency C-section.

He shared: "Gill almost died because her blood pressure went so low her heart nearly stopped. Gill was my hero. I’m still so in awe of how she got through it. She’s my rock. I’ve known her since I was playing open mic bars and was a van cleaner. I could never replace her."

Gill appeared to be looking for a new house just days before her death. Posting on her local Facebook group, she wrote: "Looking for a house to rent in Whitminster ASAP. Please contact me if anyone knows or hears of anything. TIA." While last summer she was photographed without her wedding ring and her Facebook relationship status was set to 'single'.
