With the new year in full swing, it’s time to look ahead to what 2024 has to offer. January was a packed month of awesome TV as streaming platforms dropped a bevy of blockbuster shows to kick off the year with a bang.

January blessed TV fans with shows including Netflix’s Fool Me Once, Marvel’s Echo, Apple TV+’s Masters of the Air and Sky’s fourth season of True Detective. But following closely behind is Amazon’s hotly anticipated series, Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

From co-creators and executive producers Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane, Prime Video’s upcoming series is a reimagining of the 2005 film of the same name starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. It follows two lonely strangers who have given up their lives and identities to be thrown together as partners in espionage and marriage.

In this version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, two lonely strangers land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travel, and a dream brownstone in Manhattan. The catch? New identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith.

Now hitched, John and Jane navigate a high-risk mission every week while also facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they catch real feelings for each other.

When is Mr. and Mrs. Smith released?

Mr. and Mrs. Smith will premiere on Friday, February 2. Every episode will drop at once so viewers can binge the entire series from start to finish.

How to watch Mr. and Mrs. Smith for free

Mr. and Mrs. Smith will be released exclusively on Amazon’s Prime Video, which means that to watch Mr. and Mrs. Smith at launch, viewers will need a Prime Video subscription. This usually costs £8.99 a month or £95 a year and comes with a host of benefits like next day delivery, Amazon Music Prime and Deliveroo Plus – while Prime Video alone can be joined for £5.99 a month.

There will be eight episodes of the Mr. and Mrs. Smith series. Every episode will drop at once so viewers can binge the entire series from start to finish.

Who is in the cast of Mr. and Mrs. Smith?

Mr. and Mrs. Smith boasts a stacked cast comprising some huge names from both the big and small screen. It is led by the show’s co-creator, musician and Emmy-winning Atlanta star Donald Glover – otherwise known by his musical moniker Childish Gambino – as John Smith.

He fronts the series alongside PEN15 co-creator and star Maya Erskine as his on-screen wife, Jane Smith. Alongside its two leads are a stellar pack of guest stars including American Horror Story’s Sarah Paulson, acclaimed The Batman star Paul Dano, Big Little Lies’ Alexander Skarsgård, I May Destroy You star and co-creator Michaela Coel and Narcos star Wagner Moura.

Also appearing is Cohen brothers alum John Turturro, Hellboy star Ron Perlman, Baby Driver’s Eiza González, Catastrophe’s Sharon Horgan, Lost in Space’s Parker Posey and Money Heist’s Úrsula Corberó.
