Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks are set to take over a huge role from Roman Kemp at this year’s National Television Awards.

I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Of Here! winner Sam, 31, and his best mate, former TOWIE star and Staying Relevant podcast co-host Pete, 36, will be chatting to celebs as they walk the red carpet, it was confirmed today.

The pair have been enjoying a bromance since meeting on Celebs Go Dating back in 2019 and have been inseparable ever since. They are so close, Sam even picked Pete to meet him as he emerged victorious from the jungle instead of girlfriend Zara McDermott.

Taking place later this year on September 11 at London’s O2 arena, Sam and Pete will host all the official NTA content for its social channels, as well showing viewers secret behind-the-scenes footage from the night, which will be posted on the NTA’s YouTube channel. NTA ticket holders will also be able to watch Sam and Pete interview celebs via a livestream in the auditorium at the O2.

The pals will take over the baton from the likes of Roman Kemp, Greg James, Chris and Kem and Georgia 'Toff' Toffolo. Calling it an 'honour' to follow in their footsteps, Sam said: “It's an absolute honour to have been asked to be the official Red Carpet hosts for the NTAs and there's no one I'd rather do it with than my best friend Pete. I'll definitely be grabbing Ant & Dec for a chat!”

Best mate Pete added: “From fighting our way into boxes full of celebs at the NTAs for the past decade, to being the official Red Carpet hosts - things are looking up! But on a serious note we're thrilled to have been asked and know it's going to be a great night.”

Since he was crowned last year’s King of the Jungle, Sam’s career has been going strength to strength and he’s come a long way since starring as Louise Thompson’s weird little brother in early series of Made In Chelsea.

As well as landing the NTA gig with Pete, self-confessed Love Island addict Sam, who often appears as a commentator on the ITV dating show, will now be co-hosting a podcast all about Love Island: All Stars.

ITV is launching a spin-off this month where former contestants return to the villa to try and secure love a second time. Sam will join former Islanders 25, and 31, who have both appeared in previous seasons of Love Island, to present the new show.

The Mirror exclusively revealed how Sam had also landed his “pinch me moment” job as a fully-fledged member of the This Morning presenting team since his I’m A Celeb win. Now one of their roving reporters, Sam will get to present alongside his jungle campmate Josie Gibson, who he bonded with in the Australian outback.

He told the Mirror: “I’ve always been a huge fan of and the energy and joy the show brings, but talking to Josie about how much she loves being part of the This Morning family in the jungle made me want to join the team even more.”

He added: “From being a guest on the show in December to now officially being announced as part of team This Morning... it’s a real pinch-me moment. I can’t wait to get started, nothing beats the excitement of live TV!”

*This year’s NTAs, taking place on 11th September 2024, will be broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX
