The BBC is about to shut down a total of 10 services and anyone who hasn't upgraded their hardware in a while could find they can no longer watch shows on channels such as BBC One, BBC Two and BBC Three.

The closure is all to do with Standard Definition (SD) satellite services being switched off. It basically means if you haven't got a more modern High Definition (HD) device tucked under your telly you're going to miss out and the changes are happening soon. In fact, January 8 is the date set for the big reorganisation.

“We are days away from the day when we will be closing the SD versions of all our TV channels on satellite – the closedown will take place on 8th January 2024,” said the BBC in a post on its website.

Luckily there is still time to make the jump to HD and it might not be as expensive as you might think with providers such as Sky offering to switch things over for free.

“Sky TV customers can upgrade to Sky Q at no extra cost," Sky explained.
"Upgrade online, or call - we'd advise doing this as soon as possible to avoid long wait times. Your new box will be installed by one of our engineers on a date that suits you. You can then watch all the BBC channels in HD – including all local programmes.”
