Vinted has surged in popularity over the last few years as a way of selling second-hand clothes, and one woman has found a nifty way of helping her sell things faster.

With an increasing focus on fast fashion's negative impact on the environment, Vinted has gone from strength to strength since it launched its UK website in 2014. Anyone can use the free platform to sell a whole range of items, including clothing, accessories and shoes - although a new rule means you might have to pay tax on what you sell.

January is a great time to look through your wardrobe and see if there's anything you want to get rid of, so it can go to a new home. But if you've never used the app before, it can be quite daunting. Luckily, fashion fan Amy has shared some of her best tips and tricks that can help you sell your items faster, and she's already earned £250 from her efforts.

Posting a video to social media, Amy shared three things you have to do if you want to be able to sell items quickly. She said: "I've made over £250 on Vinted in the last four weeks. Here are my top tips.

"Number one, you want a nice clean, clear and bright image and I'd recommend wearing the item if you can. Showing different angles of the item as well and this just helps people picture what it would look like on them."

Next, Amy recommends creating a description of the item which will be "really helpful" to the potential buyer. She added: "Try and think about if you were buying this item, what would you want to know about it. Giving reference information is also really handy."

Lastly, Amy urges people not to be afraid to haggle or accept offers. She added: "Knock them down maybe £1 and they might meet you halfway, but it's always worth doing just for that little bit extra."

In a follow-up video, Amy explained that there are also certain tweaks you can make in the settings that will make it easier to sell on Vinted. She said: "Tip one is setting your postage options - it's honestly [so] worth doing.

"You wanna head to your profile, head on to Settings and then you wanna go all the way to postage and then tick the different postage options that are feasible for you. Obviously the more you've got ticked, the better chance of selling."

If you've already tried to use Vinted, you might have noticed that people 'favourite' your items. If this happens, Amy says it's worth dropping them a message. Amy said: "Say 'hi, I see you're interested in my item'. Maybe even give them an offer, maybe knock £1 off of what you're selling it for if you think that's fair and then you can have a quick sell."

If you're still struggling to sell, Amy recommends dropping the price of items, as this is a quick way to seal the deal. She explained: "Also if you've got lots of people favouriting your item but it hasn't sold and you think ‘okay, I'm gonna drop the price’, whenever you drop a price, everybody who's favourited that item is gonna get a notification that the price has dropped, so again it's quite a strategic way of making a sale."
