Coronation Street's Sue Cleaver has opened up about her weight loss, revealing it's not due to dieting.

The 60-year-old actress, who first underwent a transformation in 2019 after losing three stone, said on Loose Women that she's been ill this year which has affected her weight. Sue also shared that scammers have tried to use her transformation to sell fake diet pills online.

She expressed her frustration at the stigma attached to being a larger person, saying: "At the minute, I am a lot thinner but I've been ill this year, and for some reason, my metabolism just seems to have changed and because I'm not drinking. I have been the other way and I might go back the other way!

"What I hate about it is the shame that is attached to being a bigger person, the judgements that are made about another person, quite like you say, often from other women." Sue added: "I always find it really hard to take, I can take advice, we're not stupid... we know we're big... we know we have a problem, we know we have an addiction, don't treat us like we are idiots!"

She continued: "Other women are shocking at it, it's just so innocent, but examples for me that things that always happen to me. When I've lost weight, I can go into a room and someone goes: 'Oh my God, you look amazing! You've lost so much weight!' and all I will hear is that: 'You looked like an absolute dog when you were big!'

"It's how we talk about it and how we talk around it, makes a big difference!"

The I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star, who slimmed down from size 16 to 12, previously told Prima Magazine: "I lost some weight in the jungle, but I'm not obsessing over diets: life is hard enough! There's always going to be outside pressure and unfair expectations placed on women, but I refuse to get pulled into it."

"That's why I'll never promote anything weight-related, and it's why I'd always compliment somebody on their smile or outfit, rather than their weight."

She once revealed she started to become more health conscious after collapsing on set and being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes back in 2011. Following the incident, Sue embarked on a health journey and transformed her diet – going from a size 16 to a 12 in 2019.

The soap star is said to favour a Mediterranean diet, which is high in vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, beans, cereals, grains, fish and unsaturated fats such as olive oil and usually includes a low intake of meat and dairy foods.
