This Morning star turned down Celebrity Big Brother over Louis Walsh rumours
This Morning star Gyles Brandreth has turned down an offer to appear on Celebrity Big Brother, despite rumours that Louis Walsh is in talks with the show.
The reality programme is set to return to our screens this March after a six-year hiatus. Gyles revealed on This Morning that he had been approached but declined, as the idea of being confined in the house for weeks didn't appeal to him.
Rylan Clark, who was guest presenting This Morning alongside Josie Gibson, shared his thoughts on the rumoured line-up, including Louis Walsh. Rylan, a former X-Factor contestant, expressed mixed feelings about Louis' potential participation. He said he would advise Louis against it as a friend, but as a viewer, he thought Louis would be great on the show.
"They don't just want big names in there - they want stars who will bring something truly intriguing. Louis is just the kind of figure they want in the house - someone with serious life experience who not only has something to say, but isn't afraid to say it," an insider revealed. The insider, speaking to The Sun, also reported that the show's bosses have received a hefty funding of over £2 million for the series.
The reboot aims to feature a sensational line-up of stars who will "bring something truly intriguing" to the show. "These characters have delivered some of the most outstanding moments of Celebrity Big Brother in the past and they'll want to produce those again. That means they may need to splash some cash to secure the people they have their eye on - but it's a worthwhile investment. They want this to be on a par with I'm A Celebrity, which has a similarly claustrophobic environment involving celebrities completing strange challenges under the glare of the public eye," the source added.
Reality TV personality Stephen Bear faces court over fence row with councilIn 2022, ITV bosses spent over £2 million securing its lineup for I'm A Celeb which included former UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock and singer Boy George. Last year, they reportedly paid a whopping £1.5million just to get controversial politician Nigel Farage on board.
Despite the unusually small overnight viewing figures on ITV2, the 2023 reboot of Big Brother, hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, was considered a success.
The six-week series was streamed 38 million times, making it one of ITVX's top five most-watched shows. The return of Celebrity Big Brother, hosted by the same duo, is expected to generate even more buzz and viewership than the previous season.
